DMC 3 sold 1.69 million. Not bad but the 360 has twelve  (1 Million plus ) sellers already.

GTA was the big blow to Sony but thats old news right?

Of the remaining big guns in Sony's Arsenal (Grand Turismo, FF, MGS, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts) Square Enix owns three of the franchises.

Assuming Ninty doesn't wipe M$ and Sony out I think that the future of this console war is in Squares hands.  If Square goes multi platform with KH and FF Sony is screwed.

Here are some numbers for the numbers inclined amongst you.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Take 2 = 14.88 million

 Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec Sony = 14.84 million

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Take 2 = 14.20  Million

 Grand Theft Auto 3 Take 2 = 11.60 million

 Gran Turismo 4 Sony = 8.10

 Final Fantasy X Square = 7.95

Need for Speed: Underground EA = 6.49

Need for Speed: Underground 2 EA = 6.38

Medal Of Honour Frontline EA = 6.29

 Metal Gear Solid 2 Konami = 5.56

 Kingdom Hearts Square = 5.50

 Final Fantasy X-2 Square = 5.21

Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex Vivendi = 4.97

Final Fantasy XII Square = 4.94

Dragon Quest VIII Enix  = 4.68

Medal Of Honour Rising Sun EA = 4.65

 Madden NFL 2005 EA = 4.46

Spiderman: The Movie Activision = 4.33

Lord of the Rings: Two Towers EA  = 4.28

Need for Speed: Most Wanted EA = 4.06

Simpsons: Hit and Run Vivendi = 4.04

 Madden NFL 2004 EA  = 4.03

Edited the formatting

All it takes is one hit game to get the ball rolling and the PS3 could easily turn the tables.

I think it would take a miracle for Sony to replace GTA.

The future of all consoles this generation will be 1st party support. Not one game multi million $ game is appearing to be on any system.

do you mean a coup?

For now... if MS somehow managed to get DQ10 to be on X360, it'll be a HUGE boost to MS in Japan. But I really don't see it happening

GTA 3 was revoloutinary. It made the sandbox genre open to the public. The only game that appears to open up a new genre that hasn't sold very well, is uncharted: Drake's fortune.

Not really, GTA was the "big game" LAST gen---just like Tomb Raider was the defining game in the gen before last. For this gen, a new game will "come out of nowhere" to define this generation.

.........and according to Sakaguchi San, Final Fantasy will "more than likely" go to 360 based on "American" inerest in the series as well as LOW sony support.  Even he thinks sony would be WISE to make this move a REALITY.  Like my sig says..............the sound of inevitabiliy :)   peace and Godspeed

Perhaps it was the game that defined PS1......Tomb Raider (or arguably Resident Evil) was the game that basically "won" PS1's dominence for that gen from N64, Saturn, etc.... For this gen, If 1 game does that, it'll be something new, not a sequel to last gen's "big game"
