It's a few days old but I hadn't seen it on SW so...

http://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/dishonored-2-rumored-to-be-revealed-at-gamescom-2014/

"Dishonored 2 rumored to be revealed at Gamescom 2014

July 17th, 2014 at 1:31 pm - Author

It looks like we might get our first look at the sequel to Dishonored at Gamescom next month if recent rumors are to be believed. Bethesda has hinted at turning the hit game in to a franchise but we haven’t had any concrete information as of yet.

The sequel is said to be called Dishonored II: Darkness of Tyvia, the possible cover art shows us a faded drawing of Corvo’s famous mask from the first game. However, we might not end up playing as the old protagonist this time around.

NowGamer managed to get a hold of an ‘inside source’, claiming that the game will be revealed at Gamescom next month. Arkane Lyon is the studio in charge of the game as the company’s US studio is said to be working on Prey 2, a rumor that publisher Bethesda has previously denied.

The source wasn’t able to confirm the game’s main protagonist but Arkane Studios reportedly considered giving the player control of Empress Emily Kaldwin, who you save in the first game. Such a move would suggest a later time period compared to the original title.

While the game might be announced next month, it probably won’t come out until late next year, which will be three years after the launch of Dishonored."

Rumours of playing Emily?! A fully voiced character by none other than Chloe Grace-Moretz? **** yeah! This could be really interesting. The first game is fucking awesome.

Excited?

I just couldn't stay interested in the first one, so I'll probably skip this.

Abit off topic, but considering i did really like Dishonored and the way you could have different gameplay styles and approach it in unique ways, it'd honestly love a new Deus EX even more. HR was one of my favourite games last gen.

Anyway, i'm not surprised if it happens to be true. The first one was sucessfull and i believe Arkane said they'd like to make more. I'm good with it anyway.

@system-reboot:

The new Thief? That game is severely flawed by the design of the hub world, complete lack of fast travel, a useless waypoint system that actually works against navigation of the world and respawning guards a la Far Cry 2.

Dishonoured is leagues ahead, since it is actually fun to play and not a chore.

@deadline-zero0:

Yes, yes, yes. HR is one of my fav games of all time. I was massively disappointed they didn't reveal a new entry at E3. Playing through Thief over the past couple of days has just made me want new games in the Dishonoured and Deus Ex franchies...

I know you love Deus Ex and the first two Thief games, but save for a kickstarter project you aren't likely to see those sorts of games any more SNIPER. You gots to let it go, or just stick to playing old games

Sweet I loved the first one. My only gripe was that the story and characters could have been more fleshed out but either way I will keep an eye out for the sequel.

All they need to do is get some better writers on for the story and not punish the player for using lethal methods (those are the coolest way to play the game, why are you making me feel like a huge asshole for doing it?).

The first game got the gameplay bang on, but there wasn't any reason to push forwards. There was no intriguing story or intriguing characters. It was just humdrum and I'm trying now for a third time to get back into the game and hopefully finish it.

For a sequel, they definitely need to step things up and really take advantage of that stellar lore they created.

Definitely one of the best of last gen.

Hopefully this won't be cross-gen.

Agreed to an extent. Some of the most interesting things about the characters are only revealed by the Queen's re-purposed heart the Outsider gives you near the beginning. Seriously, most of the characters at the pub have such interesting things going on, it's ridiculous that they aren't brought up in the actual story or dialogue.

There was a fake floating around in February, but the dev/pub would be unwise to not fund a sequel.

Because you can choose in what way you get revenge.

Getting revenge by murdering everyone makes you no better than the main villain. If you go through any means necessary people will look at you differently than if you kill as few as possible or even no-one. I really liked that aspect of the game and I want to see even more of it in the sequel.

They pretty much already confirmed they are working on a sequel.

Arkane France, makers of Dishonored and Dark Messiah, are working on Dishonored II

Arkane US, makers of Dishonored DLC, are supposedly working on Prey II

Then they should have had a different story. Nearly half the gameplay is locked away behind the "lethal" door.

To me, that's poor design. Especially when the lethal aspects involve the most interesting maneuvers.

i agree. game should have different story and should not even about corvo. he was bland protaganist. especially compare to old Garrett.

it should introduce new protagonist and new universe.

Don't agree. I played on high and low chaos and there are different gameplay mechanics to support both.

You can have arrows that kill, or arrows that stun. Mines that kill or mines that stun... Same with the powers, they can be used in different ways.

The game plays fine whether you go and kill everyone, as little as possible, or no-one.

Dishonered is up there in terms of visual and level design for me. Overall it was a really solid game. The problem for me was that it didn't really hold my interest for some reason. I think it might just be lacking in variety. Something a sequel could easily improve on.

The universe is fine. They already mention a bunch of different locations outside of Dunwall in the original game.

Agree with a new protagonist though.

Damn...I really do need to make an effort to finish the first Dishonored. I've started it many times, but I get bored with it after awhile, but I would like to see how it all plays out. Too many games to play in my backlog I guess.
