Poll Digital or Physical Disc? (123 votes)

Digital - fast, easy and have access to all the full games (PC gaming) 20%
Digital - fast, easy and have access to all the full games (Console gaming) 11%
Digital - fast, easy and have access to all the full games (PC and Console gaming) 15%
Physical Disc - i can sell, trade and rent games. 48%
Physical Disc - because my internet is shitty and HDD is too small 6%

99% PC games are digital (like steam) meanwhile console gamers still use disc to install, load and play games.

So, you prefer digital, or disc?

When you prefer disc then why? Is this because you can sell and trade your games or because internet is slow and/or HDD is too small. Would you go digital if HDD were 2tb?

I wanna see how many console gamers prefer Digital over disc. You can't vote for both. Vote only you use more

I buy only digital because to download 50GB steam game takes only 10-20 min and as we all know, steam just download games and not installing. You can download pre-ordered games so you don't even need to wait to play.

Digital prices are a f***ing joke, physical all the way.

If/when gaming goes all digital, I would likely give away my 25+ year gaming hobby.

I'm scared of digital on consoles, what happens if microsoft or sony shut down there gaming servers and I had deleted a game to save space it would literally be gone forever.

Both. I buy Wii-U games physically, since they look nice on the shelf and the digital prices are often more than the physical. Which is reta****. I also didn't need to buy an extra HDD for my Wii-U that way.

On PC I haven't bought a physical game, since like... Guild Wars, or something. That was 2005. I've also stopped buying physical games for my 3DS, since it's nice to not have to bring cartridges when on the move.

Because digital no need to spawn disc, cheaper and easier. I have installed 300+ games and all i have to do is just click "play" and i can play game i want. It takes no room but when you buy disc you can only hold limited time until new console comes out and then you can't play older games and also when you buy new games you have no room to place disc.

Indeed, at least on console. On PC physical is worthless and it gets good sales, though I only buy drm free stuff.

Perfect example of "the things you own end up owning you". If that happens and the game is so important to you after all that time just hunt down a physical copy. There will always be 'What if' senarios but none of this stuff is going with you when you die.

Digital, simply because I don't want hundreds of CD cases lying around at home. I take digital over physical any day.

Digital definitely isn't cheaper. Changing a disc does not take a long time. Game cases do not take up a lot of space.

I like the idea of having a physical release along with the digital version but I prefer digital downloads over discs these days. Due to competition, games are cheaper on different distribution platforms, and I don't have to worry about scratches and stuff. I still buy Physical discs but very few of them.

On console, yes.

On PC, digital prices are unrivaled bargains. And if Steam isn't dropping fast enough for you or their major sales are still too far off, there's always the 3rd party CDkey sellers, from G2A, to CDkeyprices.com, Kinguin, among so many others. PC is the most competitive platform that no one should ever have to pay $60 (or $70-80 CDN) for a game, even within a week of release.

My answer remains the same. Hard copies are nice because you can physically own the game, and digital copies are nice because of convenience and sales on Steam and GOG.

As someone who likes to go back and replay games a lot I really like digital (on PC). It's so convenient. Just browse my old games, double-click the one I wanna replay, wait for download and go! (sales pitch warning).

I buy digital on PC, and I buy physical due to a lack of purchase security on consoles.

I'm totally fine with buying digital on PC, games are pennies on the dollar, I don't have to worry about major infrastructure overhauls making games unplayable for the most part, I have access to my library from anywhere I am.

This is the age of digital distribution.... These companies still have to sell physical copies to please the many people that can't let go of their plastic boxes and discs... They've been trying to go digital for years; don't even put manuals in there any more. Ah, but change always seems to happen slower than it should.

...True, the console market is still behind PCs in terms of distribution.... It's funny though because console purchases (even physical purchases) are usually only secure until the next console comes out.... after that you either have to keep your old console around or wait until they 'remaster' it and make you buy it again.

Just as I like the idea of owning a physical book, I also prefer having the physical disc. I also haven't bothered upgrading my HDD, so the capacity is crap.

I always choose physical discs over digital whenever I have a choice, but not really for the reasons that you list in your poll. The top reasons that I prefer physical discs over digital are:

1. This is by far the biggest reason, I just don't trust that I will always have access to the digital games that I buy. I worry about what will happen after the day that the servers that hosts these games inevitably get taken offline or what happens when the license for something used in the game expires. There are too many future uncertainties with digital games, but with a physical disc, I don't have to worry about these things since as long as I have a physical copy of a game and a working console, I know that I will always be able to play the game whenever I want just like I can still play NES games and that is comforting to me.

2. I like having a physical game collection that I can display on my shelf and hold in my hands; this gives me the ownership feeling that I don't get from digital games.

3. I can almost always find physical copies of games for much cheaper than they are digitally on consoles.

Digital, I have my consoles mounted behind the TV so I don't have to see ugly hardware or cables, and digital with no discs to swap expands where I can put the back there.

I like both options. For multiplayer games that I know I'll always play, I'll go digital. For games without multiplayer I go with physical. For example I steam rolled through Quantum Break in 3 weeks and traded in for $30 bucks. If I had bought QB digital I'd rarely ever go back to it. Glad I was able to get half back and put forth to another game.
