Destructoid previews The order 1886 (again)

Yeeeeeah. So, another mediocre preview for TO1886. Keep in mind, while Destructoid previewed it before, it was another guy. The game can't catch a break.

Anyone actually expected this game to be good?

I have a feeling this is going to be a cross between Beyond 2 Souls and Gears of War....the gameplay will be nothing knew but it will be heavily story driven.

If thats the case....I'm in. I like story driven games.

My god, what a terribly written article. This is not a preview, more the scrambled memories of a person that played the game drunk the night before.

Same here , i might rent to play this. I really like the settings , atmosphere and story driven games. I dont care if will be a 9 , 8 or 7.

I have a hard time believing any game journalist anymore. I will not say that this person is right or wrong, but what most stress as "good" doesn't always add up for me.

This won't stop cows from overhyping it though. They will continue to prance around saying this will be GOTY and 10/10 or whatnot.

The reality is this will be PS4's DriveClub of shooters.

Anyways, I've always been skeptical about the Order since the first reveal which showed zero gameplay and then we had to wait an age to actually see any. Still I could yet be shocked by this game but its looking less and less likely.

I like the setting and the background (some Victorian Steampunk FTW!), just not the on-the-rails gameplay

Well someone has to say it: LOL black bars, 800p, no day/night cycle, pre-baked lighting, no dynamic weather.

HAHA. Exactly! It will be overhyped AAAAE until the hype thread where Cows will low ball the hype to avoid another flop. It will be Hyped a AE just like DriveClub was.

I have had the Collectors Edition pre-ordered since it was announced a couple of months ago. My expectations have been dropping a little since then but I'm sure I will enjoy it just fine. DriveClub isn't a bad game either. It's very broken online, but it's fun.

Well duh, SW meta basically has a dominant strategy of overhyping a game before the hype thread then underhyping it in the hype thread.

See I pretty much disliked the Gears campaigns (and 1's MP, tho 2's horde was fun)

There's nothing new or exciting here. They need to start showing us the good stuff. Third person cover based shooter is yawntastic.

From all the videos I have seen it looks like gorgeous graphics but everything else looks like crap. Graphics can make a game better but they can not make a game good. What I mean by that is you can dress up a turd all you want but at the end of the day it is just a fancy dressed up turd.

The gameplay previews I've watched have been underwhelming, and I keep hoping that they're holding back some cool stuff.

Then again, it's fairly close to getting released. At least it's pretty. I'm sure I'll enjoy it though.

I'd actually say on rails is better for this sort of thing. Starfox on the ground. Bring on some gameplay--wave shooter style.

This game looks so unispired it's not even funny! Good thing Bloodbourne and Uncharted 4 will also come next year.

After hearing that this game is as linear as it gets, i lost all interest even tho i like the art direction and era

This game just is exciting me at all. I'm looking more foward to Bloodborne than I am this game. I'm sure it will sell pretty good but I would be surprised if it's a hit.

You need some type of online mode to give the game some replayability/social gaming experience to share with friends. Mediocre games can benefit a lot (dead rising 3) with something as simple as co-op.

The order is the 1 sony exclusive announced that actually interests me and all i hear is bad crap about it. Now I'm worried I'll barely touch my PS4 next year too :( also the multiplats next year aren't as good as i thought they would be.

RAD needs to give people a new demo to play. It's boring to hear people's impressions on the same demo that we've had since February. At least the latest trailers have shown some promise. New demo at Playstation Experience please.

Reading through the comments here, it saddens me how spoiled the gaming community has become. Especially here in system wars, all I see is hate. Hate for games, hate for developers, hate for publishers, hate for other gamers.

Why do you people bother trying to be part of a gaming community at all?

I really want to play the order, but I'm not sure I want to buy it at 60 bucks. Not putting a tremendous amount of faith in the story or characters, though I do like the dark steampunk art style and I'm hoping for some fun set pieces.

I expect it to be entertaining. I know reviews will be, for the most part, negative but I like its artstyle and as long as its gameplay is serviceable I know I'll like it. I just hope its not a short game.

I still want to play and I will.

I'm getting a real "Heavenly Sword" vibe from this game. Neat premise, but I don't think it's going to set the world on fire.
