Gave in and bought it. The interface bugs the crap out of me. I'm on ps4 with a controller, I hate using a joystick as a mouse. Its borderline making me mad at the game. So far intriguing but I'm only like 1/2 an hour in. I do like me some sci fi.

I see the "hate something because its popular" mentality is strong in this thread.

What deep and complex game mechanics does your beloved Halo has exactly? Loving Halo and hating on Destiny is just moronic. The gameplay is more or less the same but the RPG elements raise Destiny above Halo substancially. One can only love Halo's story and lore above Destiny and thats pretty much it.

@Vatusus: Not to mention, this game has some exceptionally good boss enemies. Halo NEVER had that. The closest it got were the scarab fights in Halo 3.

Anybody else figure out how to activate the fan on the building on the left when you first spawn into the tower?

This game is fascinating. It's one of the most "different" games I've played. Really fun and there's so much stuff to do I'm a bit overwhelmed. Really is the first FPS I've played on a console that takes the vision of community to the next level.

Metacritic reviews must be filled with PC gamers or Halo fanboys that hate Bungie for jumping ship.

Not sure what Halo has to do with Destiny being a bad game. Destiny is basically Borderlands for dummies.

Bungie games have always been content rich. Dunno wtf is going on in this thread. Halo 3 had a shit ton of content.

And the borderlands for dummies comparison is laughable. Feels A LOT more like Halo.

So I'm currently level 10 and just finished the moon. I've put roughly 3 hours into the game and...it's boring. Every single mission is "go there, deploy ghost, defend against waves" Seeing as the last thing we ever saw from Bungie before this was the amazing post-credits level in Halo Reach, it just feels disappointing.

It seems to suffer from the problem "is this the most interesting point in the story? If not, why are we here?" I'd much rather see the golden age and original battle against the shadows.

It also looks like the loot only drops if you play on hard mode. Didn't see any until I bumped up the difficulty, then I got like 3 guns off kills.

...no I don't.

Thats exactly what it is. why do I need cutscenes and set pieces every 10 seconds to enjoy that?

I'm really skeptical of games that come out and they delay the reviews. I know activision is going to pay a fortune to promote this game. I'm not buying into the hype from what I've seen it's halo reskinned with co op and more weapons. To me it's just another shooter.

I know your trying to be clever and all... but pray tell how you would "spice it up" .... what other shooter has anything more? except maybe ones with puzzle elements (HL/Portal)? Even MMO's don't do anything clever outside of fight mechanics.... all other interaction is "Go through dungeon... press button.... kill enemies".

The 2 raids I have done so far, while tedious (boss health is ridiculous.) have been more interesting than anything in Halo... CoD .... whatever.... but then again... Borderlands did a good job of this too.

@jdc6305 reviews are not delayed.... its because its an online game they take longer to review as a whole.

I've been playing this all day and PSN didn't freak out on me once.

Now Level 14, done 2 raids... and quite a bit of story and random crap and some PvP.

Bottom line here, with all the doubters and the people that are dissapointed.... I don't know what you was expecting... this is designed for consoles after all. All you got was Halo + Borderlands.... while not as depthful in the loot department the gameplay is on par... and the multiplayer pvp/co-op is simply better.

That being said, most of its supporting features are clearly not finished:

• Online Communication - Nobody is talking in raids (I dont know if you can even?) ... not chat system.... makes it all more like a dark souls novelty to see people fighting with you now and then.... no way to type or anything.
• Loot variety, enemy variety ... hell anything variety is poor. You'd think they would take this oppurtunity to create lots of enemies... but nope..... well more than most other shooters, but again similar to borderlands.
• Long loading times... the ship serves little purpose other than a loading screen aesthetic.
• the story ....

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT:

You all whine and wonder where the money goes... yet this project probably went through development hell, not because of bad management or lack of talent. but because they had to work with s*itty console limitations..... BUT the game Has a great foundation to build upon with updates/dlc much like any major online game..... people expect far too much on release.... and are always disappointed.

That being said, the core concept is fun.... I don't see how you can like halo, borderlands and not want to play this.... unless your one of those movie-buff-wannabe-gamers that NEED a compelling set piece and character developement..... every 10 friggin steps.

I give it an 8 so far.... but as I've said before.... not a game you base the campaign off... like most online games its abit of a slug... "but it starts at lvl 20" could well be true.

I see quite a few disappointed people, but also many who are just starting the game. The hype takes a few days to settle.

Complaints so so far include: Story is bad, misisons are the same - go somewhere let your ghost hack while you defend waves, bullet sponge bosses, invisible walls aplenty, lacks characters, empty worlds, dialogue is bad and no suitable way to communicate or join with people you come across.

Positives include: Worlds look good, shooting is solid (Halo-like), many enjoy the gear grind, can be fun with friends, tough challenge (mainly strikes)

I've played for about 2 hours now, and my first impressions are so far so good. It's exactly what I expected based from the alpha and beta. No meaningful story what so ever, but the core gameplay is fun. I don't think Bungie is capable of creating a well told story, but at least their FPS mechanics are top notch.

damn bungie and their stupid online drm. i bought the game and cant play it. i keep getting the error sorry could not connect to bungie servers.

why the hell does bungie go all online if their servers cannot handle the traffic.

So far put about 5-6 hours into Destiny, love it specially the Moon lvl, holy shyt that lvl is just gorgeous.

PS4 versions been working fine all day. XBoners having problems with their golden servers?

So far, its not bad. I am a recovering MMO addict though, just get this urge to make the numbers bigger. This game scratches that, so I will likely play the crap out of it for the next few days. After that, we'll see if I go back to Diablo 3 UE.

Anyone else getting oddly long load times? Just seems weird for a game installed on a hybrid drive to sit there for more than a minute while the space ship wiggles seductively.

Mixed opinions in this thread. From what i've been reading from multiple sites (even the reddit for destiny) is that people are either dissapointed or adore the game. There's not really any equal footing on it.

Damn and I thought Borderlands was Borderlands for dummies.

I just hope most of the guys on here don't buy it. It is killing me not to buy it but I'm not supporting next gem drm with a 9 hour story. (Oooo but you need to be online its an mmo.......) How did borderlands make a game pretty much the same as this yet you don't need to be online 24 hours to play it.

I'm almost at 8 hours played and I'm barely halfway in my lvl which is 10 atm.

The game is fun I played it most of yesterday (lvl 15) It's just not quite what was promised.

For example earth is just old Russia from the alpha/beta was expecting at least an American and European section of equal size for that planet alone.

Missions are repetitive. I know essentially whatever you're doing will boil down to killing enemies but some variety would have been great.

Even the most basic of items that would allow for customisation are too expensive in the tower and hard to find in the game itself. I'm not expecting big stats to accompany these items necessarily but if I want a red cape for my hunter I should be able to get one without having to wait to find it or spend an extortionate amount of money.

The skill tree is also a misleading term as you have very little choice in what you can pick next to upgrade infact it's forced upon you completely.

That's all I can be bothered to list now. Don't get me wrong I'm really enjoying it but we were promised MUCH more than what is on offer here.

I was having way more fun earlier with Velocity 2x before I jumped into Destiny. Been playing for 3 hours, and so far it's meh. Gonna jump back into Velocity.

The person that did this rushed through the game. They should try playing it.

This game is amazing I love the graphics and rpg elements in the game.
