Destiny’s Public Beta crashes XBL (bu-bu-bu teh cloud!!)

The official Xbox Service page says Social and Gaming are Limited, telling us that “Xbox members, are you having trouble viewing the online state and activity of other users on your Friends list? Hang in there, we’re working to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience during this process. Another update is coming your way in 30 minutes.”

Steam has downtime and it is the best in the business.

Azure is STILL better than PSN infrastructure and always will be. That doesnt make XB1 a better console.

PSN goes down way more often so I'm not sure the point of this thread other than for it to be a Sony fanboy circle jerk where they try to pretend that Xbox Live isn't better. Should we make a thread everytime PSN goes down because if we did there would be more threads about PSN going down than about Xbox Live going down since it happens more often and anybody that owns both knows this to be true.

Considering there is a lot less people using Xbox One live services than PSN, it's pretty funny. Imagine if the Xbox was more popular...

But seriously you have to expect down time with any network service, but you expect ~95% up time if you are paying for it as long as it achieves that then all is well.

Bungie is the ONE tweaking the servers. Not Microsoft. Read their twitter.

This isolated incident does not prove anything, no online service is 100% perfect, no matter how much the company invests in it. You would need to compare total downtime of XBL vs PSN in the past few weeks or months to get an accurate picture of which service is more reliable. Yes XBL does go down from time to time but their response time is usually very quick, service is usually restored within a few hours at worst, and they give updates every 30 min as your screenshot is showing.

I don't know how XBL compares to PSN in terms of downtime, but whenever XBL goes down, the official Xbox support twitter feed goes in some kind of red alert mode(apparently their twitter is in the Guinness book of world records for being the most responsive on Twitter) and they respond to most tweets within minutes it seems.....in short, they open 2 way dialogue with the customers and try to get the service back up asap, as far as I'm concerned I can't ask for anything more, it would be nice to know how Sony handles their downtime(I have no idea) compared to MS.
