Destiny hits 20 million players

So looks like the game was a runaway success in spite of everything, then.

The really sad part is, in spite of all the controversy around the game, it still remains at its core a really fun title. There is so much potential there, that Bungie just keeps squandering.

I have a question: Do posters really think they care about expanding and capitalizing on its potential? Or do posters think they are in it for a quick buck?

Btw I don't have it and don't plan on getting it.

I hope I'm not included in that figure. I unwittingly bought that garbage and played it for 3 weeks before I deleted it permanently from my PS4.

Easily the worst gaming purchase I've made in the past 9 years.

Destiny has a chance at being something special, but Bungie won't let it.

They don't actually specify whether the accounts are active or not, so you probably are.

@charizard1605: Yeah that's the thing. They most likely view it entirely from the scope of business, which is why they don't actually see any gain from putting the rubber to the road in making the game not mediocre in terms of content.

I don't like this trend.

20 million players, that of which 19 million abandoned the game shortly after trying it.

Sadness. I took part of it so im sad as well. This game shows that with spectacular marketing you're able to sell a pile of shit and people will buy it

The only semi decent thing in this game is the combat, but the lack of weapon variety screws that up too.

this. this game needed way more weapon kinds, larger FoV, 5x bigger skill trees so you could actually build unique builds and it'd have some potential. But then again, even if everything i've mentioned was introduced into the game, there's nothing for you to do but log in and do bounties for the 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000th time.

I knew this game was going to be a huge disappointment just from playing the beta. The only reason I bought it was because my friend was planning on picking it up. Even when we both got it for half off on release day, we both still regretted it.

yeah, i knew it'll fail when rumors of only 4 explorable zones were in the game but i couldn't just skip a game i was hyped for since 2011...

It's the biggest swindle in gaming history if you ask me. For the damage it caused, at least ET and the Atari problem were just bad management, but this whole Destiny thing was as cynical and manipulative as you can get. And it worked! Harmed the future of releases in ways can't even gauge yet.

Genuinely surprised.

Game was fun in the beginning, but then you go past whatever level it is, and the grind kicks in. No, thanks. Put like 25 hours into it. I'm good.

i expect over 10 million still actively playing. While i know its silly but im going to base this off my friends list with over 350 friends on PS4 almost a 100 to 150 people play the game daily heck i play it daily and been doing so since the day it came out last year.

While Bungie lied about the game having a story mode and whole BS they said about "If you see it you'll be able to explore it" the PvP ( even though its only like 4 modes ) and the raids ( even tho raids get highly repetitive after the 3rd week ) its simply a blast to play with friends and compete on who gets all weapons first, teaming up in PvP, etc

As a hardcore Destiny player i am highly excited for the upcoming House of Wolves DLC

from what i hear Prison of Elders>>> Raids ( im staying away from spoilers so i dont know much about prison of elders other than it changes every week and that you can approach it differently every week.

As a hardcore PvP AND PvE Destiny player it seems like this DLC will be lots of fun

i just checked your trophies 12%, didnt complete a raid, didnt even rank 3 in vanguard which everyone does if they played enough of the game, you didnt even max out a character or have an exotic heck you dont even have the cabal trophy which everyone can get if they played the story

Sure we can help you reach level 20 really quick but you'll have to also invest some time into it to get to at least level 26 so you can enter the first raid but definitely getting you to level 20 shouldnt be too hard just remember to message me :)

Once you hit 20 the entire game will change because it begins to be more about finding the right gear to ascend to the next level but we'll to get to that later on.. first reach level 20

Despite what everyone says about Destiny, I for one will say that I enjoy the game for what it's worth when I got it at launch for PS4. I made lots of good friends on PS4 version and Destiny does has it's flaws, but I'll say that I enjoy it and I still play it from time to times when I'm in a good mood. If I had to pick between Titanfall and Destiny, I pick Titanfall cause Titanfall did what it needed to do and they didn't hide anything so Titanfall get's my respect then Destiny.

I might come back to this game one day.......when they drown out the insane amout of repitition.

Even with the house of wolves the core idea of leveling up only through your gear does not change ( unless its something they havent announced yet?), the only change Bungie announced is that instead of losing the old gear and making them irrelevant with every DLC now you can level up ALL the legendary gear you have to the next level.

Which means that even after you finish the fist raid called Vault of Glass and get its gear you can keep it to go to max level when before all the gear you obtained via Vault of Glass was irrelevant due to its low level so before you had to also play the second raid ( Crota's End ) to get to max level but with House of Wolves the Vault of Glass gear is enough to take you to max level ( which is something a lot of people asked for ).

I'm still playing it and still love it.

I can't really comment because I haven't played it properly but I have heard it's gets pretty boring and grindy after level 20/21 ish.

I guess like most MMO's it's a Marmite game (you either hate it or love it) and also with most MMO's it'll need time to mature. It makes me wonder if it'll get that time though with Destiny 2 already ammounced. I can't see player progression being carried over into D2.

Screw this game and the horse it rode in on. Whenever anyone brings up an all digital future for consoles, I want to hit them in the face with my digital copy of Destiny.. Which means pounding their face with a PS4. I really thought this was going to be good. I really really did! So much so, I went ahead and bought it digitally with the expansions ($89 version)...

Now I am stuck with it. A game I haven't played since four or five weeks after it came out. Made the grind to level 28 or 29 (can't remember, don't want to remember) and just ran all out of fucks to give. I still give 0 fucks. The 0.000000000000001 **** I have to give is the fact that I paid for it and am stuck with it, so I might fire it up and let it update while I'm at work one day after the next expansion comes out to see if things are better.

I will likely come home and start playing Hohokum for a few hours before deleting Destiny off my hard drive, though. My faith in Bungie went from unquestioning to hoping they all die of embolisms and mercury poisoning.

People like to play crappy games. Look at games like Halo and Uncharted.

I still enjoy Destiny, unless it's the PvP portion. I'm looking forward to the new DLC as my brother got me the season pass.
