Destiny Has 3.2 Million Daily Players a Month After Launch

It has been a full month since Bungie and Activision launched Destiny, and while it has received its fair share of criticism during that time, the data proves that people are still playing it. A lot.

In a post to Bungie's official website, Community Manager David "DeeJ" Dague revealed that Destiny averages 3.2 million players every day. As Bungie revealed last month, these players' play sessions are still three hours long on average, even on weekdays. The average Destiny player also logs into the the game 1.8 times a day, and has played Destiny 20.9 times in total.

To put things into perspective, Bungie says over the past three weeks it has had more players online in Destiny that it did during the same span for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach combined. However, keep in mind that Halo 3 and Halo: Reach had single player campaigns that could be played offline. In Destiny, you have to be online, even if you're playing through the story alone.

"Your reactions and your opinions have helped us to make Destiny better over this past month," Dague said. "Pioneering something new is never easy. When we see the raw numbers, it’s easy for us to say that the destination was worth the journey."

Still a massive flop

With the colossal failure that was Queens Wrath and Iron Banner events, it pretty much killed my desire to play the game. With The Evil Within and patch 6.0.2 for WoW releasing next week it will kill my desire to play the game even more, I mean hell I might even trade Destiny towards TEW.

Sure it is, because not all Destiny players got the game on the first day. They just worded it a little poorly.

The difference though is, said 'high school drama' is extremely well received, at the top of its genre, and universally well loved. That is hardly anything you can say for Destiny, would you not agree with me?

P.S: These days I am spending all my time playing Smash, that's pretty far from high school drama :p

Yep, its a fun game. I know that because I actually played it.

Havent touched it in some time. Been busy with work and Alien. I was disappointed by the Queens Wrath stuff. Hoping some better free content comes out soon.

DUDE!!! Smash on 3DS is sucking my study time from in between classes! Game is great. The WiiU version will probably be amazing! I do agree to an extant. Persona doesn't speak to me, but I recognize its exceptional quality at what it does. Destiny? I like more than the GS review. I give it like a 7-7.5. Its a good game, that one can have great times with friends in. But it didn't amazes me like Smash. Hell, Titanfall is better than Destiny imo.

All of these people will flock to Advanced Warfare and Master Chief Collection when they come out.

Played it every day since launch. Did crucible for at least 4h today, it was a laggy clusterfuck but enjoyable for some weird reason.

Maybe because fun is a feeling and not something measurable by review scores or resolution? Maybe, is all I am suggesting

Destiny is a shining beacon of a development gone wrong, and sadly, the defacto reason why hype is equalled to dog shit.

That said, I'm rooting for the game to be more than what it is a year from now... And that is not excusing it for what it currently is.

Oh but i wouldn't be playing any more just because it may have received a 9 on GS. This game has a lot of issues and it feels like every week two new locked locations are found on the disk. But when i play crucible its just unbalanced fun, something you rarely find in nowday shooters

most of the 3 million users a day are PS4 players, i'm sure...those guys have nothing else to play on that barren system. ps4 users actually need Destiny because every other game the ps4 has sucks or got delayed lol.

Please link me to this overwhelming list of shooters that are NOT unbalanced. The game does have issues. But fun can be had in it.

Smash Bros. has consumed my life. A game made for consoles in every sense of the word should not work as well on a handheld as it does. And you are right, if the 3DS game is any indication, then the Wii U game will be insane.

Not many other multiplayer games to play on next gen...

BF4 is balanced, CS, TLOU, KZ:SF are some examples of games i played. In destiny everything but Scout Rifles and Pulse Rifles are broken AF, including your melee (haven't seen a game with such op melee in a long time).
