Activision confirms Destiny is a hit as the game grosses over $325Million in 5 days.. so what is that 5 million units in 5 days?

Call of Duty and Destiny? Activision has secured two big games

Activision PR

“Destiny fans played more than 100 million hours of the game in the first week. That’s on par with the engagement levels of our most popular Call of Duty games, which obviously is an industry leader. Millions of gamers are having a great time playing Destiny and can’t put down their controllers. And this is just the beginning. Destiny is a platform that will grow and evolve and we will continue to work closely with our partners at Bungie to bring a long line of new experiences and content to life in the game.”

And the AAA cycle continues.

I have a feeling this gen will be pretty damn close to last gen.

Great new AAA formula. Hype + Season pass pre-orders - bad review scores = $$$$

Not sure if I should be any impressed considering all the money they've spended on advertising.

They spent 500 million developing it, so they got a ways to go. Also the fact that they didn't co-develop or at least port to pc will cut into their profits.

Yea, you would be correct for cost of production, which cost around 140 million. The cost of advertising for games was included in that quote from Bobby Kotick I believe.

from Bungie: "But the budget for Destiny, including associated marketing costs and pizza Wednesdays, is nowhere near 500 million dollars."

Too bad Bungie won't get that quality bonus they always seem to get when they were only working with Microsoft.

I'm all for it. Gonna be until I get an HDTV in my new place that I can fire up and play again, but I was having fun with the game. I give a 7-7.5 and unlike others that's a good game imo. Like Titanfall, I was meeting new gamers and having fun playing with them. Will play more.

The game doesn't look/play like a game with a "$500 Million" budget.
