Poll Dark Souls 2 vs Deep Down: Which will be better and why? (58 votes)
I chose Dark Souls 2 because of the track record of the Souls games and the gameplay videos I have seen. However, Deep Down still seems to be a really good game.
Opinions?

Which one, potentially, could be better?
Dark Souls has proven to be a spectacular franchise already. This of course doesn't mean anything as what Deep Down down is and could be is unknown.
This one comes down to what type of game you enjoy more.
From what I have seen of Deep Down gameplay footage, it seems like a game with few enemy types and a reoccurring dungeon environment without much variation. Kind of like the dungeons in "Legend of Grimrock". That's not necessarily a bad thing, because Grimrock is a great game, but some variation would be good, at least different types of dungeons. Also, Deep Down's combat doesn't look nearly as polished and strategical as Dark Souls 2 combat.
However, Deep Down still looks like a game with a lot of potential, and I look forward to playing it.
Haha Thunder is probably trying to find a way to 'own' the cows. GG Thunder, GG.
Deep Down doesn't even have a crutch to stand up to even half of Dark Souls 2. This is like comparing Flappy Birds to a Game of the Generation.
No, not trying to own the Cows. I have a PS4, XBOX ONE, PS3, and gaming PC myself. All the systems are great in their own way.

Sure... Then why is it you are comparing Deep Down to Dark Souls 2? At first reveal of Deep Down, that would be understandable, as it looked like a Dark Souls type of game; but it was clear within months that Deep Down is just some F2P crap trying and failing to compete against even indie games.

They are both dungeon crawlers with similar gameplay styles. However, Dark Souls 2 is much likely to be far better, but nothing is for certain yet.
I don't think they can be compared. They're both dungeon crawlers but I consider Dark Souls to be a genre of it's own.

Pretty much, as if two good games couldn't co exist.

wow this thread is 100% retarded.
jeez,
a sequel to an already great game,
against a game that hasn't even been demoed,
da fuq was u thinkin?
why not compare quantum break to gears of war 4 while you are at it.
oh wait I forgot I was in system wars
a sequel to an already great game is most probably gonna be a good game.
but how does a game not being demoed immediately imply that the game can't be better than Dark Souls 2? So by your logic, The Last of Us was looking to become a bad game during development until it was demoed at least once?
Your statement is 100% retarded
Dark Souls 2 I think, It is a proven game, and in alot of ways the Modern take on Diablo, where as Deep Down certainly seems to be influenced in areas from Dark souls, the game does not seem to be as well thought out, with the fantasy part taking place in some sort of game or vr experiment in the future? (atleat looks like that)
And the Whole F2P is not making me very thrilled to begin with, very few F2P games are worth putting time into, and capcom especially have not made me feel more relaxed about it.
So I think that DS 2 will be a more complete, better executed game, with no sacrifices to gameplay in order to squeeze Money out of the consumer left, right and centre
a Capcom pay2win game vs. the sequel to one of the best games of last gen?
I'll need some time to think about this..
That's like asking do you want a slice of the best pizza in the world or this piece of burned out tire that I found in the trash can?
Oh and by the way, Dark Souls is the pizza.
Hmm lets see one game that is a copy of DS and probably has the DLC already on the disk and a one time use code for online game play vs one of the coolest franchises in the past 30 years of gaming?

just read what you posted and tell me if that makes any sense at all,
this game has not been demoed,
therefore,
ineligible for comparison,
because nobody has played it yet so It could be radically different,
it could be better because it has multiplayer,
or worse for it,
man just ease up,
think clearly before you post dumbass

People played it at TGS
Don't know anything about Deep Down. Not informative on games like I use to be,
Looking forward on playing Dark Souls 2. Hopefully I can actually finish the extra content on DS before DS2 comes out. It's sad how I kept putting it off for the longest time.

Are you lacking comprehension skills? The question was "which WILL BE better?", implying that nobody here has enough information to make an accurate assessment but merely a prediction.
If both games were accessible for a proper comparison, as you put it, then the question should be "which one IS better?"
@turtlethetaffer: Had nothing to do with difficulty. I played DS multiple times and beat it on 360 with 100% achievements. Saw PTDE was on sale on Steam so I bought it. Started from scratch and I got all the way to Ornstein and Smogg, but unfortunately my pc crashed and for some reason my cloud sync didn't save and been lazy to start all over again to play just for the extra content.

To be fair, We have only seen one dungeon of the game and that is not enough to guess the amount of enemies and variety in dungeons. Also, specific parts of the enemie's bodies were attacked and stunned them in different ways. That in it self is strategy that Dark Souls does not have. However, so far Dark Souls' combat looks more fun to look at.

The closest that i have come to playing a Diablo game is Diablo 3's demo. I do not know much about the series other than the title being the name of the main villain and its popular loot system. So I ask, why do you consider it to be a modern take on Diablo?

"which will be better, and why",
implies there is enough information on both to draw comparisons,
it isn't about predicting the way the thread is named,
you have to have a reason for your choice as opposed to guessing.
sequels to good games have sucked before,
and new games managed to be better than sequels,
can you comprehend that?
this thread does not make sense,
but like I said,
system wars
To be honest i expected the poll to be alot closer. Nice to see cows arent entirely delusional.
But yea the 3rd installment of a critically acclaimed series vs a pay2win ripoff. Doesnt take a rocket scientist.
Here is an idea... get both.. play both. Like both or hate both. Which is better doesn't really matter seeing as though Deep Down is a FtP game... you can BUY DS2 and TRY DD without investing a penny. Then if you like the game you can invest in it (which essentially means you are buying it) and own both!
... no need to thank me.... I know... genius right?
