Honestly that is actually probably the PC version on a very low grade PC. Not even Demon's Souls from 2009 looks like that. You hermits are idiots if you expect anyone to believe that is the console version. Dark Souls looked great too. Both have fantastic graphics for console games.

I'm excited about playing the game with a real community. PC version should be called Dead Souls because the online will be a ghost town in comparison to console. Damn near impossible to even summon anybody in the PC version, even during a steam sale.

I mainly play arcade and retro games... so don't feel sorry for me.
If anything, I feel sorry for you that require good graphics to find a game enjoyable. Hell... I can't even imagine how many games I would've/would be missing out on.
Edit: oh yea... I have a gaming PC too. nothing too crazy (radeon 6850, 3.2 ghz six-core processor, etc..), but I mostly play point and click adventures anyway.
Technically the Souls games are rather poor yes, but its artsyle is some of the best I've ever seen so I dont give a sh*t if its graphics are meh as long as its beautifull to look at

I have seen the souls games on both large and small screens on consoles and apart from some frame rate hitches in certain areas, the games look fine, technically speaking. Animations are fine, textures are fine (as long as you don't zoom up on them). Maybe I'm just a pleb, but it baffles me when people say that the games are poor looking. Apart from the human models, which admittedly have a "plastic" look to them, everything looks current gen to me.
having a good framerate is more key to Dark Souls than graphics
Let's hope Dark Souls 2 will manage that on consoles this time :p
yea i hope so too. im buying it on PS3 because i dont wanna wait on the PC version to come out.. with alot of particle effects and all the new lighting going on in the game, i wonder if it will cause bad dips in it

Its impossible to disagree, their engine is above outdated level. But the best part of all of this is the fact that they're using a brand NEW engine for dark souls 2 lol (you can hear them say it in the making of DkS2 on IGN) and they're calling it "photorealistic"... Japanese devs are truly stuck in the 90's. This game looks exactly like Demons Souls released in 09 which NEVER looked good even for its time. Too bad the gameplay is so good in the Souls series that i just close my eyes when it comes to graphics and play the game for its gameplay but cannot think of how amazing ballz this game would've been if it was running on CDPR engine TW3 uses or Cryengine 3. What i hope is for Sony to announce Demon's Souls 2 with a brand new engine that doesn't look like a piece of fox shit!

The souls games have always had disgusting textures, it's like they put all their effort into the enemy and character models and couldn't be arsed to do the same with the environments.
While this is true, these textures are considerably worse than even Demon's Souls, which came out what, 5 years ago.. They should have just kept the same engine
