it should've won every single category, i demand a recheck, how is it possible that it didn't win as best fighting game, i mean, have you seen how joel beats the crap out of zombies? i smell conspiracy here.

I do understand TLoU winning in most of those categories, but I'm really not seeing why it won an award to do with innovation as I didn't really feel it innovated much if at all. Well deserved though, great game.

TLOU deserved every award except art direction. No idea how it won that.

That award goes to GTA V in my opinion.

Idk what game was actually innovative last year though. People say Super Mario 3D world but shit there's been 3D platformers since PS1. I really don't know honestly.. i guess Beyond 2 Souls but i wouldn't wanna award it anything.

The finalists were The Last of Us , GTA V , Tearaway , Papers Please , and The Stanley Parable.

Also The One For Story too. Why award a game that tells its story in such a pasive way ? Guess they were too focused on the plot itself to notice that most of it was delivered by cutscene. Wrong Narrative, TLOU shouldn't have been Nominated in the 1st place

It's a game, just not a good game. Its story is horrible.

Jodie Holmes (Ellen Page) should have been nominated for character performance. I think she did a great job.

You missed my Point. I wasn't questioning TLOU's quality. Why was a game with Cutscenes nominated for a Story Award by Video Game Journalists ?

Its like Nominating The Lost Symbol for a Story Award at the Oscars because Tranformers had a bad story.

I won't disagree that Beyond is Sh!t but its alot more Qualified than TLOU is.

In a market dominated by brain dead zombies, Naughty Dog said let's try something new, let's make then infected instead of undead, let's give all the infected a different class. Let's introduce story telling into a zombie game for once. Let's make a multiplayer based on stealth instead of the usual COD-ified fast twitch shooters. A completely new IP with new game design that succeeded. Haters gone hate

TLOU doesn't deserve to win in almost any of those categories since it's awful and not innovative at all, and GTAV certainly doesn't deserve a win in gameplay since it basically fucking has none.

I specially like INNOVATION in gaming.....lolololololol The game literally plays like any other 3ps and offers nothing in terms of actual interaction that was promised 3 e3's ago such as truly evolving and smart AI, specially concerning your ally AI where they will literally run into enemies and among them.

And this is why last of us receives the "make people butthurt award" from mgs4, it makes the poor souls who couldn't enjoy it anally bleed until the next bomb drops from playstation.

GTA V is the biggest and the most detailed open world game and has three playable characters to switch between while playing the game in a flawless manner. And the game switches from in-game cutscene to gameplay without ever showing a loading screen. And then there is GTA Online.

it probably doesn't, for example i agree it doesn't deserve innovation, but it took pre existing formulas and did everything so damn good i don't mind.

referring strictly to the "innovation" section, I have no quarrels with the other awards it received (furthers my point of it being a graphic whore game mostly infact.)... not a single aspect of the game is innovative though... its retarded... straight up.

I think people who dislike TLOU will not agree it was innovative so no point in debating with them in the first place. If a consensus of developers agree with me that TLOU was innovative, then i think my sanity is in check, unlike some people who cannot objectively analyse subjects without resorting to fan boy nonesense, that is not to say i am not a fan boy and i lack bias, but i can clearly welcome critic and observe a subject from a non fan perspective.

The gun fights and combat alone makes the game play like no other game, please critics mention any other game with a combat system like TLOU. While not every design choice was pulled off with flying colours, you can see that ND has their sights on things a lot of dev ignore, things like AI in particular, while it was not properly done, it did create moments of magic where you feel sooner or later, ND will master how to make an enemy AI feel relevant in a battle scene. Not just canon fodder of waves of same faces rushing to the slaughter but hey whatever right, fanboys gonna fanboy
