Crytek: console hardware is weaksauce

Okay, I took some liberties with their actual quote. Apparently Crytek made some comments about consoles and graphics during their SIGGRAPH award

"Console hardware was considerably less powerful than high-end PCs at launch”

"Furthermore, Crytek said that MSAA was not an option on Xbox One with deferred lighting as there was a massive bandwidth increase. Also, the company run into issues with ESRAM size"

And they admitted that pre recorded cut scenes in Ryse used SSAA

"Last but not least, Crytek’s engineers revealed that SSAA was used in pre-recorded cut-scenes in Ryse, and that this demanding AA technique will be available in the PC version of Ryse."

So basically PC version of Ryse will have graphical advantages over the console version. Not surprised. Hey, did you know the Earth isn't flat?

Defitnetly not the strongest gaming hardware out there, but a 7850 class GPU with some decent 64 bit cores and good amount of ram and other dedicated hardware units packaged in a slim profile allows for some great gaming for the masses and much more immersion then last gen (fast ram loading shit quick, huge open seamless loadless worlds, etc.), the majority of people's homes do not have 7850 type of power in the average person's home computer. It can still churn out good graphics and sometimes really good,

its all about the games, GAMEspot , gameplay, to a ton of people console gaming is the way to go for them, hermits gotta stop ragging on consoles so much for when very arguably some of the best games to ever come out and be played have been console exclusives only lol

But it doesn't matter when the company still designs their games around the limitations of the consoles.

There's a reason Crysis 1/Warhead were amazing, and all following games from Crytek sucked.

You buy $400 hardware then of course it's weaker than more expensive and most people don't even really want to spend that much just to play games especially if it's just a xmas present for their kids when they have to buy gifts for everyone else too. But I don't exactly see too many developers pushing for much more than what consoles are capable of outside of a few graphical enhancement options anyway. Of course it's not like Crytek can do much more with games than make shiny demo's. Maybe they should make a space sim, racing simulator or something instead of the B flicks and QTE's

They need to get better at licensing their engine out.

I'm okay with the new gens capabilities.. games look nice.. they don't have to look like high end pc games. I just want to play good enjoyable games.. and i'm glad to say there have been many around so i don't mind the limited hardware. Minecraft for example can be hours and hours of entertainment vs something crytek can come up with for example. shit.. imagine a 20 hour crytek game. it's enough to make you quit playing video games.
