My friend, that's not true at all.

Actually this is a great point. It's wrong, it is true, as the screenshot clearly shows but from this, we can deduce part of the price hike that is already a "discount" is to reduce of the discount of discounts. i.e. obligatory % steam sales.

So you get the game for £36.49 if you have both games, oh no, somebody call the police! This is an independent company releasing a big budget game that's been in development for a long time, DRM free, with a soundtrack, digital art book, free copy of Neverwinter Nights AND $15 of GOG credit due to the higher UK price and you're moaning and calling it a scam? **** right off.

This.

My friend, if you ask if I enjoy the games, yes, of course. The business practice, is a different entity.

For example, I enjoy World Of Warcraft, doesn't excuse selling mounts, power boosts, pets and other priced game play items on top of a retail priced game and sub fee. Likewise, this is inexcusable. Even more so considering just the other day, they had a conference pretty much boasting about it.

Unacceptable. (highlighted to emphasis how unacceptable it is)

Using hurtful comments and potty mouth names will not change this. Even attempting to use the argument of "oh well, you get preorder items". Every game gets preorder items and across the board, steam, amazon, it is £40-£49. Nothing made up, factually based fact.

CD Project RED is only the developer. Pricing decisions, especially ones made for regions other than the developer's home region, are made by publishers. Here's a list of all the publishers for Witcher 3:

POLcdp.pl
NAWB Games

PALBandai Namco Games
JP Spike Chunsoft

Steam & other digital platforms often attempt to have their own standard pricing, but the publisher for a region can start knocking on their doors and force them to match their price.

Now then, which release region do UK and Australia fall into? The answer is PAL. In other words, this price gouging decision is most likely made by Bandai Namco Games, who are already known to price gouge nearly ALL THE OTHER games they release to the West. Just for reference, on gog Witcher 3 is showing up as 81 AUD (around 76 USD or 45 GBP) to me, while all the other games show standard USD prices.

ADD: Direct announcement from CD Project RED that Bandai Namco Games is publishing Witcher 3 in Australia, New Zealand and Western European countries.

That says plus the 10% discount so wouldn't it come to £36? Not too bad for a big release, not like Sim City that you couldn't get under £40.

@uninspiredcup: I have both TW1 and TW2 activated on GOG. That's $48 for me, or 300 HRK in my local currency, which is way below other full price games. They are usually 400 HRK, or even 500.

Basically, this is a pretty damn good deal, considering what kind of content you get.

So, don't buy it. Go buy the next crappy version of COD or whatever instead. I for one will be happy to support CDPR by purchasing Witcher 3, even at higher than normal retail prices if that was the case.

They are the developer this industry sorely needs.

@uninspiredcup: Do you like "or whatever"? I'm sure there are plenty of recycled annual franchises from EA or Ubisoft that you can pick up.

Its not £50, its only £50 if you buy it with the first two games. You are a true tool. A complete and utter idiot.

My fellow Scottish friend, £50 is the base price. Using "if and or buts" does not change that. Neither does emotionally charged (which you are forgiven of course) responses.

Why would I buy those? What do those have to do with anything? These personal attacks are getting fairy abstract.

Ubisoft make great games as well. With critical and commercial response well above CDP titles.

My freind, whom I admire quite a fair bit, £50 is the base price. Using "if and or buts" does not change that.

Neither does emotionally charged (I forgive you) responses.

Console games are £50 RRP, yet retailers sell them at £40. Its down to the retailer at what price they sell the game at. Its like buying a car, there is a list price from the manufacturer but the dealer has the final say at what price the car will sell at.

I understand and share great empathy with your country. However, being bad in your location, is no justification for worsening in other locations. This is spite, one of the worst forms of human behavior.

We get neighbors over here btw. Great show. Harold and Toadfish are the best.

An interesting event has occurred my friends. CD Projekt has inexplicably, without explanation or notice, changed the price on steam even higher than previously indicated.

I understand a few well known troublemakers will cry foul, declare lies and demand a moderator man use powers to shoot lighting as repercussions for my bravery is standing against a beloved company indulging in rapacity.

Thankfully, we have screenshots from yesterday to prove this, thus, I am right, in the thing I am saying right now.

Need I say more?

What CD Projekt is giving you is the EXACT OPPOSITE of Blizzard. There taking away DRM and giving you the game after you purchase it. You can do whatever the hell you want with it except for re-distribution. Your free from any form of control after you buy the game. AND your getting a TON of Pre-Order stuff.

While Blizzard will F**K you everytime you disconnect from the internet. When you buy a Blizzard game your basically their B*TCH.

GOG is the party determining the price for Witcher 3, not CD Projekt Red. For the GoG community, non-DRM software is a big deal and paying more for that feature is a leveraging point GoG is afforded.

If someone is willing to pay more, why not let them?

GOG is the party determining the price for Witcher 3, not CD Projekt Red. For the GoG community, non-DRM software is a big deal and paying more for that feature is a leveraging point GoG is afforded.

If someone is willing to pay more, why not let them?

CD Projekt Red owns GoG.

Truly? Did they purchase the platform? I still recall CD Projekt Red being uber-pissed over pirated copies of Witcher 2 - doesn't add up that a developer butthurt over pirated copies would own a DRM-free distribution client.

The more you know.

I didn't even know about this, but atleast they were man enough to admit fault..ubisoft would have kept it up and just give the supporters the finger.
