Found this a little while ago. I hope it's true I just bought a 3DS and would love to see a sequel to SOTN.

Why? why the 3ds? that bloody crap hardwared nothing..... what would 3D even do for that game?
Why is this not PC/Xbox/Playstation/Ninteno arcade with glorius 2d graphics with machines that can actually do it?
wtf is up with some of these developer's decisions?
Amazing news, but I'll still wait until the reviews come in before jumping on board. Hopefully it's a 2d game and not more bullshit 3D Castlevania non-sense. Also, the 3DS is the perfect home for the game. After all, the last great 2d Castlevanias were released on the DS.
I'd rather have this be on next gen systems with beautiful 2d sprites.
Not on some ancient handheld with a wavering attach rate.
Wow, that would be sick.....but how do you replicate lightning in a bottle? That was what SoTn was back in the day. Today, it is much harder to do something like this......but obviously, if they do come out with a sequel on the 3DS, I will have to get it :)
3DS is a good choice, but I don't understand why it isn't also on the vita.
Because Vita has a very low fan-base

It's not that low, and its getting bigger now that the new slim and PS4 are out.
The reason why Konami is so comfortable with putting Castlevania on the 3DS is because of the touch capability. I've played Dawn of Sorrow on the DS and they take full advantage of the touch screen by making you cast spells and stuff. Using the top screen as the map or character stats was very cool too. Not having to pause the entire game to look at something is always welcome! Since the Vita has touch capability as well, I'm surprised that it's not coming out for both. I think the Vita has a lot of potential but is too deep under the 3DS's shadow to go anywhere at the moment.

Where at? The only rising market with the Vita is Japan. It's dead in North America
Posted three days ago with a bunch of other rumors in a mega rumor SW thread.
I was more excited until I saw it was being relegated to a handheld, that's too bad...plus, IGA is gone.
That said, I'd buy it day one assuming it's what I imagine in my mind for any platform it's released on as I own them all...but I am apprehensive and will wait for reviews most likely due to IGA's departure.
Makes sense that it would be coming out for the 3ds.. Seeing as every 2d metrovania game that came out after SoTN came out on the Gameboy advance and DS.. I still play ones like Portrait of Ruin to this day.

.. IT has been replicated.. Numerous times on the handheld with the DS.. Or have people forgotten about games like Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, and Dawn of Sorrow? All amazing 2d metrovania games that fans of SoTN should have played.
@sSubZerOo: Played and loved all those games, but they are not true sequels to SotN, and in my opinion they were not able to replicate that special attribute that SotN had, that just made it an instant classic. Not because they came after, or replicated its formula, but some things were just not as memorable like the Soundtrack......but for sure those games are amazing, I bought Nintendo portables pretty much just to play them.
In reality I am somewhat delusional when it comes to SotN, when I think of its sequel, I think of exactly the same game but better......which is probably not going to happen like that, it's just nostalgia.....I mean it's not like they can get the same group of people who worked on Sotn to make a sequel......I think last I heard IGA retired. Still curious about this rumor though.
