Capcom cuts %51 forcast due to Mobile focus

It seems poor capcom is in a little problem, these losses were due to their mobile focus from the recent years, but we all know it was all useless to begin with.

However i want to get to the main root of this issue.

Why are investors still pushing Nintendo to go mobile? Phone Gaming definitely has expanded and has those that stood up, but they are all fads that eventually get replaced. Why should nintendo focus on a market that have very low attention spams which is why games like Flappy bird are popular?

Meanwhile Mario Kart 7 is STILL selling.

This should be proof that Mobile focus will do nothing but make things WORSE

This is probably why Nintendo is trying to get their own shares.

or the stupdity of not launching dead rising 3 on the ps4. third party devs that have their own pubs should never release exclusively to one system.

Capcom and mobile gaming deserve one another.

Capcom is slowly losing the ability to develop their own games, hence with all the outsourcing they've been doing the last several years, they're on track to just micromanage their IPs. They should just suck it up, and outsource their IPs to Platinum, there's no chance of them returning to their former glory without doing so.

They're going where the money is.

Mobile gaming is taking over Japan.

They should just dump consoles and handhelds all together and focus on the future. :)

Do people actually game on their phone? I only do it to kill time in a waiting room or something.

I don't know..but I do know people seems to be glued to their phone - walking (look at the phone instead of where they are going even when crossing roads), waiting for bus - the same thing instead of looking out for their bus..they get pissed off when the bus pass them by because they didn't hail the bus. :P

whatever man. Duke Nukem Forever was bad for multiple reasons, not because it was late.

It took Nintendo nearly 10 years to bring out Pikmin 3.

Capcom needs to die off and be forced to sell their IP's. Microsoft can have Dead Rising and Devil May Cry. Sony can have Resident Evil and Dino Crisis. Nintendo can have Megaman.

Why? i really enjoy gaming on my Nexus 7 and there are some really cool games on android at the moment like Pylon,Batman arkham city lockdown, Epoch 2 and quite a few others.

The problem with mobile gaming is Piracy, a 5 year old can download Apps from the internet and side load them because of the open source nature of Android OS and you don't even need to root or Mod your hardware to do it, it's as easy as a file transfer from your PC to your device.

They probably should. Not port existing games, but set up new teams to exploit it. Make some NES style simple sidescrollers or whatever.

Mobile gaming is pretty poor quality but it can make vast money for little effort, ala flappy bird. So why not? That's what I'd be asking if I was invested in Nintendo, or any large publisher that ignored a huge and growing market.

It's sad to me how much capcom has fallen. They used to be one of my favorite developers.

The reason for the mobile focus was because Capcom scored a big mobile hit with Smurf's Village a few years ago. They thought they could keep milking it, but failed to realize that casual mobile gamers are fickle and will eventually abandon them for the next big fad (Puzzle & Dragons, Candy Crush Saga, Flappy Bird, etc.).

Yea maybe focusing on mobile wasint a smart idea guys.
