after the initial rush, will xbox one sales cool just like wii u did or the curve will turn up?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Xbone is only popular in america and even there the PS4 is more popular.
I don't think it will be as big of a failure like the wii U, but it can fail hard.
....no. The X1 is better than the wii u in every way. Just wait for the ps4 and x1 to start getting their exclusives which took the wii u a year to get and the pos will be through.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't it take a year or so for PS3 and Xbox 360 to get a game that was AAA?
lolvgchartz BUT they were close to the actual numbers last time so this could be accurate.
There's definitely a correlation between the graph and what I'm actually seeing happen in real life. PS4 still isn't slowing down and I can't seem to find them anywhere. Meanwhile there are stacks of Xbones at my local Walmart and Bestbuy. This tells me that the demand for PS4 is still insane while Xbone's demand has started to cool off. If this is just here in the US I imagine it's much worse for MS worldwide where SOny has always been in a stronger position. All this and the PS4 hasn't released in Japan yet, SDC.

still, is there something wrong about this graph and this data?
If we judge it by 99% of VGCharts, yes. Probably would be better to find this data from a better source.

everybody know this data, 3x1, 4.2 ps4, vgchartz just did a graph, i could make it on M$ excel

in other news, retailer cuts price of X1, much earlier than any retailer had done with wii u
It could very possibly fall flat. There was certainly an excess of units from the holiday season. That didn't seem to help the XBone pull away from the PS4 in the US. It all depends on whether the XBone keeps its momentum, though. PS4 seems to be holding well and is still sold out most places, so it is moving stock. The US remains an interesting market to watch to that end.
The war worldwide is over, though. Once the PS4 launches in Japan, the XBone won't be able to keep up. Losing the UK was a major blow as well. There's literally no way the US can carry the console itself to any effective degree. Not when it comes to keeping the same kind of third party support the XBox 360 enjoyed last generation. In fact, I'm very much calling into question whether developers will even try to bother with platform parity with their game releases if this keeps up.
Only thing MS can do to keep this generation interesting is announce re-SKUing at E3 this year. If they don't move fast, though, PS4 is cake walking this gen as the defacto console of choice to gamers and the industry.

everyone knows that wii u should be sold at 200 -250 dollars, but nintendo never did it and console is a fail
will m$ do the same?, x1 should be $350 max

@ $400, I think even the US will Channing the PS4s Tatum.

Nice! I never played it and didn't realize it got good scores.
EDIT: It seems MS can pull off at least one great game at launch (if we're going by Gamespot ratings).
Fail topic. Like it or not Titanfall and Halo will boost sales. Better NFL integration will end up boosting sales next football season, and some people will decide they don't wanna give up their achievements or not see a difference with the XBONE and PS4 and grab the XBONE.
It will be another tight race. Sony will win by a few million units but both consoles will be successful. Sorry to bust that bubble.

titanfall and halo will boost sales just like super mario 3d world, rely on software boom is stupid if you dont have competitive hardware
Wii Unwanted lololol
Many people had no idea what the Wii U even is or that it exists. Xbone has too much brand awareness and marketing $.

@leandrro:
Aaaannndd... the XB1 hate on SW continues. LOL
its not hate, its pity
The XB1 is selling just fine, despite what you cows want to think.
And, while launch numbers don't mean much:
Hardly death knell points...

If you take the average for both two months added together, PS4 is outselling Xbox One by 70k units a month.
Up is the only direction the X1 is going. There is too much coming on THE ONE to even be considered a failure like the Wii U.

Even if that trend stays the same (and that's a big if), that is less than a million a year. Over 5 years, if the PS4 has 40 million, the XB1 would have 35.8 million.
Again, hardly a death knell.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA!
What does a world map look like to you?
I really do think $500 is just too much money for a console, and Microsoft is going to struggle for a few years until they can get the price competitive with the PS4, just like Sony struggled with the PS3.

I don't quite follow your laugher or your comment?
40 vs 35.8 is a relatively close race, albeit with a clear leader. It's not like 40 vs 10 or anything.
We are looking at launch numbers, and neither has launched in all markets. No one will know any real consumer trends until this time next year.

Well, I guess you have a point. However, XBone has launched in all of the XBox 360s strongest territories. So, it is damn near impossible that any market left to launch in is going to actually stem the tide of PS4 sales.

Yet nobody ever provides a better source. I am not defending VGC, but it does get old hearing people lol VGC this and lol VGC that, yet nobody ever bothers providing a better source even when asked to provide it.

Yea, I'm pretty certain Japan will skew those numbers much more heavily in favour of the PS4.

I think Japan may help he PS4 at first, but I do not really see the PS4 selling well there until next year when the library is more established. It will definetly sell well when it launches, but a steep drop in sales with happen after the launh period like what happened with the WiiU.It won't be as bad anyway.

I think people put too much into Japanese numbers in regards to consoles. Japan accounted for what, 12% of PS3 sales? Even if you throw Japan into the mix, it is not going to make that much of a difference.

Xbox 360 has an AAA at launch. Took PS3 I think almost 2. Wii had one at launch to I think.

With PS4 leading by 40% already another 12% is a good chunk more.
I think this gen as a whole is going to have a harder time matching last gen's sales.
That is a pretty wise bet. It is very possible that the overall pie is shrinking. There's certainly nothing catching fire amongst the non-gamer like the Wii did.
