Call of Duty is top selling console franchise of 2016

Kind of a weird way of putting it, since Black Ops III is still selling well and making up for Infinite Warfare's poor performance. By poor, it's COD poor. Do you think this franchise will ever die, SW? I still enjoy playing it, but having played Modern Warfare remastered, it reminds me of how great the franchise used to be.

Not counting Pokemon? How is that fair? They split Pokemon into 3. They counted Pokemon Sun, Moon, and the Dual Pack edition all separate. Yet counted all the CoD editions together. They didnt even count digital sales for Pokemon but did CoD. This is a fucking joke.

I liked COD 1,2 and MW the others sold because of the name just like Apple products.

I tried infinite warfare during the free weekend and it was absolute shit.

People only bought the games because of MW remastered.

Knowing activision is going to MILK the shit out of people, garanteed the next COD has MW2 remastered

The only reason IW sold at all was because it included MW:R if you bought the 80 dollar version. Activision knew what they were doing here. Scumbags.

I haven't enjoyed a CoD since World at War, but anti-consumer practices like this bring my piss to a boil.

What a f***ing shock! This series is part of the reason why I have my doubts on a CERTAIN company's games faring well on other hardware, when they have to face this.

This proves the gaming community in general has poor judgement.

A - Those numbers are probably incredibly inflated since purchasing Infinite Warfare was the only way to get Modern Warfare Remastered.

B - Holy crap, how is GTA V still selling so well. I mean it's an incredible game and one of my all-time favorites, but to be #6 on the best sellers list last year? Unreal.

COD IWs campaign was great. The multiplayer? Not so much. But IW doesn't deserve the usual COD hate it's getting.

No, the franchise will never die as long as there remains a population of gamers that favor a dumbed down fps with tiny maps, spawn rape 'sploitability, and 360 noscope auto-aim fanboys.

No surprise. COD games these days sell pretty much on brand recognition, which still works on the relatively younger and less experienced console gaming demographic. PC gamers are older and more experienced as gamers and purchasers. Brand recognition still works in the PC market, but social word of mouth and gamers' experience also have significant effects on PC game sales. This is why niche indie titles like Stardew Valley and Kerbal Space Program do so well on PC.

As long as brand recognition still works in the console market, COD will never die there.

Has pop music died?

I think that it will eventually wane low enough where it may not be a yearly release but you never know. Personally I still love the games and enjoyed Infinite Warfare. The campaign was really good and while the multiplayer may not have been expanded upon as much as I was hoping I still find it highly enjoyable and Zombies is pretty fun.

Seriously, just make it a 2 year release and it could actually be a competent series again.

Gamers buy a lot of mediocre/bad games, more at 11.

It's the only reason why this years CoD did anything. If they sold IW by itself, the numbers would be drastically different.

Well yeah they sell a lot of them. You need to buy a new game every year just so there are people on the servers.

@FLOPPAGE_50: actually hoping it has World at War remastered. COD4:Modern Wardare was the only good Modern Warfare game for me.

I'm hooked on MW Remastered and IW.

They are excellent, I got my money out of it pretty fast.

You gotta admit they are top notch quality games.

Also just got yesterday every achievement of remastered. Felt good to do it again.

Or at least take a year or 2 off.

@speedfog: I miss how the maps used to be so big like in modern warfare. But I also like the arena type ones too.

That's cool. It's a solid video game. It's pretty fun. Don't really care what sells the most and there is no way in hell I'm stooping to the level of hopping onto the COD hate bandwagon. If I'm going to be ridiculous about hating something I would at least try to be more original.
