It is Sony VS Microsoft. Just imagine what will happen to Microsoft's credibility if they offered an external Blu-ray player.i dont know why everyone thinks this is ms vs sony with either of these formats!?
it has nothing to do with either.

Sony spearheaded development on blu-ray and sits on the blu-ray board of directors. But you're right that this has little to do with Microsoft -- it's Sony vs. Toshiba. The only detrimental effect it could have on MS is if the potential victory for blu-ray will have a positive effect on PS3 sales.i dont know why everyone thinks this is ms vs sony with either of these formats!?

Now, is this Cow's newest attempt at gaining credibility for the PS3. To equate a gaming machine with watching movies on?
Soon they will be grasping at how sooo much more important it is to have 4 USB ports to 3 USB ports.
I guess fanboys will always be fanboys.
The PS3 will survive, and will have fun games to play, and will sell modestly well. But this HD-DVD vs BluRay thing is getting quite old. Yes, BluRay winning the format war will help sales of the PS3, we all know that and hear it a couple time a day in SW. We get it already.

[QUOTE="daveg1"]It is Sony VS Microsoft. Just imagine what will happen to Microsoft's credibility if they offered an external Blu-ray player. Not much really. They have nothing to do with the format war though they side with HDDVD at this moment. Only Sony can lose face as well its there business in blu-ray. I expect this format war will be very close. Blu-Ray could win by hardcore people supporting it and casuals not even involved. Usually the winners are the ones converting the casuals. I expected HDDVD to attract the casuals but looking at it closely I cant see casuals buying into HD(formats) for another 3-8 years. And by then Blu-Ray may have gathered word of mouth, film studio's, pc/console support and more retail support due to early hardcore adopters. It's on a knife edge for both formats. Truth be told more and more houses are getting hard-drives to record TV/Cable/Sky and soon that will be movies. But how soon...i dont know why everyone thinks this is ms vs sony with either of these formats!?
