Apparently regenerating health and more offensive focused gameplay

edit: it says you can get your health you just lost back from doing well timed counter attacks.. if you go defensive instead, you will lose the health

linky

I'll check it out when I get home.

I read it's going to be more noob friendly.

That doesn't really bother me, as long as the game is fun.

Every Souls game has had it in there (equip based that is). Just wondering how fast the hp will regenerate is the question. Really hope it's not a stay undamaged for 5 sec and you have full health.

@clone01:

Aye, this information's been around for at least a couple weeks.

The impression we were provided about the regen health is that it only occurs when you time a counter attack right or something?

However in one of the gameplay demos it looks like the guys health regens when he attacks/kills enemies, perhaps from the copious amounts of blood that spurt from them?

It's likely an item. There's rings that give you back health as you defeat your foes in Dark Souls. Pretty good for early game, but late game you get hit so hard and have enough flasks to live without it.

This is indeed old news.

#15 Edited by verbalfilth (4586 posts) -

I can see this working if getting hit will chip off a large chunk of your health and counter attacking provides small health gains. In which case, you're dodging and playing tactfully like in Dark Souls but if you make an error, now you have to rush in aggressively. You'll have to stay focused enough while going frantic on enemies that are trying to decimate you.

#16 Posted by MirkoS77 (7319 posts) -

Is it true there's going to be no shields in this and that it's going to predominantly focus on evasive offense?

#17 Posted by StrifeDelivery (1463 posts) -

Isn't this info that has been known for a long time now?

#18 Posted by Aljosa23 (24841 posts) -

Not really new info but I'm excited nonetheless. I welcome as many changes as possible to differentiate this from Dark Souls and Demon's Souls. I have faith in FROM and Miyazaki to deliver and trust in the game they're creating. Can't wait.

It's cool how so many people in this topic aren't even bothering to read how the regenerating health system will work.

An enemy has to bleed on you for you to regenerate. Think dark metamorphosis.

Maybe. Seems kind of strange to take shields out of this type of game (which I've heard they've done).

This is System Wars. Going full on nerd rage at the drop of a hat is better than being rational and using critical thinking.

Your shield hand will be the hand you wield a gun in this game - it makes perfect sense within the context and the world. Especially since the game is based around offense and keeping the pressure on your enemies in combat, a shield would be counterproductive to that vision.

I personally would have no problem with that, but I think a lot of diehard Souls fans would cry for mutiny lol.

I saw on twitter a popular twitch streamer who played and fully completed DS 1 and 2, total addict, he played BloodBourne at PAX and said it was the best playing Souls game to date.
