Black Ops 3 is an early contender for best FPS this gen

Will it ever be topped? The sheer breadth of content and quality is staggering. I haven't been so hooked on a shooter in years. The map design is damn near flawless with only one bad one (Exodus). The gameplay is so fun and fluid and balanced unlike the randomness and chaotic disaster Advanced Warfare was.

Treyarch proves once again why they are the gods of modern FPS.

Destiny: Taken King is the best shooter this year and this generation imo

i cant seem to be able to play black ops 3 because of destiny lol (currently lvl16 in black ops 3, from what i played its amazing)

I'm going to go against the grain and say I agree. They did a great job with this one. A lot of content and multiplayer maps done really well. I like the specialists thing too. I guess it's considered "cool" to hate any FPS these days. Hilarious to me that the word "cool" can even be applied to video game preference and that that train of thought is even rational to some people. I love it. Sue me!

...Halo5 might be pretty good too for all I know, haven't felt the need to buy an Xbone for just that.

Treyarch is a very talented studio but COD is... COD. They change things around a bit in their version of COD but at the end of the day it's same on rail 6 hours long QTE shooter. It's like using Rare to make Kinect games. The talent is being wasted on a cookie cutter shooter.

I haven't even touched the campaign. Talking about multiplayer bro.

Fair enough... I haven't played COD MP in ages, so I don't know how much they've improved it in recent years.

it hasn't really improved. its basically the same thing. now it has running on walls like titanfall but the movement still doesn't feel nearly as good.

i havent played the multi yet, but the single player was the worst ive ever seen in a COD title. it was just awful.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the only correct answer.

treyarch has been shit since black ops 2 imo. bo3 is fucking awful due to the laughable netcode on display. its got some decent things going for it design wise but whats the damn point if your latency and lag comp is so hilariously bad? sticking to bf and the newly released battlefront for my mp fix.

i really had my doubts about this game but since i've been playing cod since its inception i figured i owed this title a go. what a mistake that was, **** bo3.

Halo 5 as the poll Nyadc posted is my go to for MP. Warzone is absolutely awesome fun. If I only had my PS4 and hated Halo as the TC does I guess I may be in agreement.

I've only had time to play 2 missions of blops 3, firstly have to congratulate them since I spent 2 hours reaching the third mission and I hear there's like 16... The rate cod games were going I thought the campaign was going to be less than 4 hours long. On a serious note, the gunplay whilst isn't too bad is no where as good as halo 5 or even some mediocre fps like killzone...let alone some solid fps like Wolfenstein

as much as people hate on COD sp, they are fun. lots of epic moments and grand set pieces. black ops 3 was like 95% fucking hallways and corridors.

OP bodybagged. Halo's flaws were rather things it didn't have (Forge and more game modes on release, no firefight, etc), and not what it did. Yes the story was average, but many a games have gotten away with this and achieved greater acclaim (MGS 5's beta weak sauce incomplete story)

It's the same exact game people have been playing since Modern Warfare 1. Nothing changed in almost a decade! Same exagerated fast paced gameplay, same player count, same scripted campaign, same boring story and characters, etc.. This time it came with lots of content, i give you that.

As for the best FPS this gen, in my opinion it's still Battlefield 4.

Respect your opinions tho. I just didn't enjoy BO3's campaign at all or the first few levels that I tried from Redbox. The levels are definitely longer, but not for the best. Didn't get a chance to try the multiplayer, but I did play it during the Beta for PC and it was meh.

Yeah I only get the Treyarch COD's, I think they always do the best job, and I'm actually glad we'll only see one every 3 years now. I know people hate on the franchise, but if you don't buy it every year it doesn't get stale.
