Biggest WTF moments in games!

So I was talking to a old friend last night and we the topic came up of the most crazy, unexpected, cool or just plain bad moments we've seen in games. This came up cause we've been pals for over 20 years and we both recalled X-men for the Sega Genesis. We got to the second to last level of this game and neither of us could figure out how to "reset the computer" to get to the last level. When you beat the boss Mojo a timer starts counting down and they tell you to "reset the computer". It was crazy how we just couldn't find a way to do it, and tried for a little over a week. We searched for secret pathways or trying not to beat mojo or anything we could think of until a non-gaming pal saw us playing the level and just went up to the Genesis and pressed reset on it. We both screamed at him to stop!!!, but When that Matrix like screen came down we went f'ing nuts. We wanted to throw the Genesis out the damn window cause we'd been so frustrated. We couldn't believe it was that damn simple and it blew our minds.

That game was one of my biggest WTF moments. How about you guys?

The rock in Uncharted 2

Simon's Quest. Kneeling against the wall to continue the game. There was no clue you had to do this to continue. I always got stuck there and then quit the game.

Oh, the reveal of Zero in both 999 and Virtue's Last Reward. Both are classic.

Inversion's plot twist was pretty rad.

The rock appeared in Uncharted 2?

That moment when I was 13 years old and was trying to crack the code that would make Lara Croft naked in the original Tomb Raider and in turns out she has a penis!

Also have to add Phantasy Star 1, making that damn cat eat the nuts so it could mutate into a huge flying cat-beast and fly you to the castle in the sky. I threw the controller at the wall numerous times, lol. You eventually had to traverse a multi-level dungeon by going to its lowest level first, and then finding at alternate route back to the top and an outside area. I wanted to slam my fist into a wall :)

To me at least when I was really getting into gaming when gen 7 started ( been gaming a looooooooooong time, but when gen 7 started I could finally afford all my own stuff).

MGS2 - playing as Raiden

God Hand - These guys

Demons souls - playing as a boss

MGS4 - the Shadow Moses dream

Hmm...probably one of the biggest, I remember, is finding the developers credits hidden in the Atari 2600 game Adventure...during a time when credit was staight up prohibited.

The most current was in MGS Peacewalker....and those creepy ass side missions where you have to lure both Paz, and Kaz, into the love box with Big Boss.

That was too far, Kojima. Too far.

When the guardians in the yeti masks show up for the first time.

Play Antichamber. The whole game is an 8 hour long wtf moment. Also IWTBTG, but that's more of a flat out troll than a wtf moment.

It's not necessarily "big." But the ending of Bioshock Infinite caught me off gaurd.

LMAO ! I had a simular experience ! But I can't say because its a Major Spoiler. All I'l say is it was at the very end of Portal 2 co-op campaign. The last puzzle was a reall WTF moment for me and my friend !

Another Big WTF gaming moment was At the End of Bayonetta... Not just the very end but The Entire Epilogue was just Batshit Crazy.... Theres no Boss Fight that can Rival it in terms of Insanity !

ME3 endings, all of them, are WTF moments IMHO in the worst way possible. And what sucks worse is I really enjoyed ME3 up until the end. Terrible endings!

I don't know if you went in with this perspective. But if you view the entirety of ME3 as an ending ( I know it feels like a cop-out to some) it's infinitely better.

The final decisions still suck. But seeing the whole game as an epilogue really helps.

I remember that X-Men reset thing. I got to that part so many times, but I never figured out what to do until I read up on it online many years later.

For me, I'm going to go with the final boss of SEGAGAGA:

The whole game is wacky, but that final fight is... amazing, lol.

"Would You Kindly" and "It was him all along" and "It was all a Dream" and other such moments in gaming aren't really WTF moments, they are more like OMG moments ! Mostly because they plot related and have no effect on the gameplay.

A real WTF moment is more like Surprize with out the Deception. Like the 1st Time Akuma from Street Fighter uses that Super Secret Special Move on you.

Spawn: Into The Demon's Hand, Final Boss fight against Malebolgia.

It starts off on a ledge in Hell playing this super awesome metal music and you see this HUGE Malebolgia standing in flames in the background throwing everything and shooting beams at you. You fight hard to get to Malebolgia and when you finally get to it, you realize that it's actually defeated with one hit (No matter what you use, you can kill it with a rock you find on the stage in one hit)... You're left thinking... um... that was it?

Pretty much all of Joel's story line in TLOU and the people he came across.

That boss sums up the shooter bosses of the late 80's and 90's. They made you want to throw you controller at the wall and curse everything breathing. Crazy! Thanks for sharing.

I just noticed. Theres not a whole lot of Game related WTF moments.

Now its just plot twists.... Not even good Plot Twists, the kind of plot twists that deliberate lie to you just for the sake of making it seem like a suprize when they finally reveal the truth ! And thats nothing Speciall. TV Shows do it all the time.

Crazy Sh!t like the stuff from old games are being dropped for the more narrative approach ! And who wants that ? Kicking god's ass in Bayonetta was miles better than "Would You Kindly"

I get into battle with it and 1st chance it gets it runs away... Ending the Battle.

But the real WTF moment is when Tornberrie makes his Debut.... During one of your red cieth stone mission you were suppose to kill a powerfull Cieth Monster, during the scary monster's entrance Tornberrie, a tiny green frog wearing a brown hoodie holding big ass butcher knife, shows up out of no where and Stabs the Behemoth in the leg... Killing it in a single blow and then proceeds to do the exact same thing to your party ! And I was so damn speechless and furious ! I mean.... What The F&$% ! ! !

In that same vein Deus Ex HR's endings. No answers, random babble about how Adam is always right, and how you played had no effect on what ending you got.

Seriously though, no one's mentioned Sif from Dark Souls?
