I agree. The Wii U is also a great choice if you don't mind missing out on the third party games, as it is a really good deal, but the X1 is my personal recommendation this year.

I can agree with that. SSO, MCC, FH2, Forza 5, Titanfall plus all the games it shares with the PS4.

PS4 isn't a bad option either as there are enough 3rd party games worth playing to hold most gamers over until March and Bloodborne.

Any of the 3 consoles is a good choice, but I like the X1 library followed closely by the Wii U.

Hard to tell but roughly same if not Xbox One selling better as it has more packages in top 100.

As far as comparing flops. The PS4 has more (cough LBP3 cough Driveclub) in this period than Xbox One and when all games are fixed on both consoles Halo will be the best most popular release not available on the other console. Mix that with GTA being as good if not better on Xbox One and all the deals you can get. Anyone with half a brain would say Xbox One has a better line up for this period.

I mean, just logically speaking, only 5 year olds would want something that's a reactionary gift for Christmas. Seems like a truly misdirected article, considering it reads more like a personal recommendation for what console would be good to buy right now for right now as opposed to what would be a super nice gift to own throughout the years ahead like a proper Christmas console purchase.

TLDR: People are looking for any excuse to justify the XBone. Want an impulse buy for quality exclusives? WiiU fits the bill far better using the articles own criteria, which is still bad criteria.

Not counting Masterchief and TLOU as those 2 are older games from previous generations.

So between the two boxes the best game I've played on them is ....Velocity 2x. Cool game, but that's pretty weak. I own a PC for my multiplats, so these boxes need to pick it up on the exclusives front.

If I picked up a console for the here and now, I would agree. However, Consoles last 5 - 7 years and Sony has been historically better at providing quality, varied exclusive content. I also rarely play first-person shooters and don't play online multi-player, so the Xbox brand really doesn't suit my gaming tastes.

Which console to have is totally subjective to friends/hype/preference/games. But there is no bones about it, Xbox is selling very well this holiday season, and the NPD's will most likely reflect that. MS have thrown the kitchen sink at consumers to try and win the sales war in the US, and I feel the pressure is on them to come out on top.

The Nov NPD is going to be very interesting.
