Best pick-up and play games?

Any suggestion for games that I can just play without too much "thought"?

Most Nintendo games, especially Mario platformers... as far as relaxing goes though, you can forget about Mario Kart.

You're right, I used the word "relax" inappropriately. But, yeah, I do mean games like Mario Kart 8 and others which basically rely on great gameplay!

Oh I gotcha. Well I can think of plenty of those haha. My preference in games tends to be gameplay above all else. I'll play a shitty looking game with a terrible story if it plays well... though I'm sure your topic will get bombarded with answers, so let me just throw this one out there.

Ever played Symphony of the Night? Oldie, but a goodie. It matches your original criteria too. Pick up and play and relaxing as well. Can't recommend it enough man. Action adventure side scroller with rpg elements and lots of exploration. Highly replayable too.
