What could go wrong?

As the new security guard working nights, your job is to monitor cameras and make sure nothing goes wrong after-hours. The previous guard has complained about the characters trying to get into the office (he has since been moved to day-shift). So to make your job easier, you've been provided with your very own empty Freddy Fazbear head, which should fool the animatronic characters into leaving you alone if they should accidentally enter your office.

Valiant Hearts is no indie.

That game could practically pass as AAA. Only difference is it's in 2d.

Five Night's at Freddy's wasn't a very good game from the review I saw earlier this year, so that game probably doesn't belong, but the others seem to be quality from what I've heard.

Nah, it's not about it being in 2D.

It's because it was made by a smaller team and released for an indie like price. Another example would be Renegade Ops. But yeah, you're right, it's AAA. Still a great game nevertheless :)

It's completely arbitrary. Unconventional seems to be generally what people think indies are. When really, "indie" literally means independent, and as such, is only applicable to games developed without a publisher.

I don't understand why any respected gaming site like Gamespot would ever make these arbitrary definitions.

Oh yeah, I know. It's just that pretty much everyone stopped caring about the game being properly independently developed. So, that's why anything, not costing $60, is indie. Not that I agree though.

Isn't Valiant Hearts made by the more artsie arm of Ubisoft? I'm too lazy to google it.

My vote goes to The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for sheer replayability. I've been meaning to play Transistor now that I have a PS4, but $20 is just too much for an indie game. I'll wait for a sale.

EDIT: Yep, VH is made by Ubisoft Montpellier.

Outsold most steam games. One of the highest games by USERS. 97% USERS gave very very super score (out of 4000 users). Even googleplay top 3 most sold game after Minecraft and Worms.

It has already own cartoon and for example, 1 gameplay video has over 18 million viewers on youtube. Thats more than big AAA games. Uncharted 4 E3 2014 trailer has only 6 million views.

Almost none of that actually means it's a good game

Five Nights at Freddy's is a fun game to play with friends and watch each others reactions, I also love the story and characters behind them. I was really impressed with The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, wish it was longer though.

Divinity isn't indie. The definition of indie is different on gamespot. It doesn't mean a game from independent studio. Here it means, a game with extremely low production values, created by less than 5 people.

Initially I was sure it be either Shovel Knight or Divinity: Original Sin (stfu, it counts, learn what indie means), but Talos Principle has been legit as ****. If the game can legit hold this level of excellence all the way through. Game is extremely well made.

Sticking to just small games made by few people.... Banished easily. One man did it and it's the best economical strategy since Anno 2070.
