Does the Character have to be Playable ?

In That case I nominate Mr. 47. Joes wasn't half bad either.

To an extent, which is why he is the ultimate anti-hero. :)

no not really.

anti hero are good guys but show bad attitude.

for example Agent 47 is a good guy because he dont kill innocent. all of his targets are criminal, crimelord and terrorists. but at a same time he show no mercy.

Hail to the King baby.

This thread just shows how awful video game characters are with the people being nominated.

I would say a few characters in the Zero Escape series, some in MGS3, maybe Joel if I was inclined to reach.

Disregard what Mr. 47 does in the story. In gameplay he may find he needs to kill an innocent for a disguise or distraction.

it depend how you play. u can complete the whole mission by only killing target.

beside civillians in hitman are not innocent at all since they are employs of crimelord who is target. for example target's manager is civillian. not innocent at all.

#19 Posted by TTUalumni13 (459 posts) -

Travis Touchdown of course!

I know... I refrained from even harming people in uniform to accomplish my task. I'l sneak around until I find the laundry or the locker room to get a uniform. It still feels pretty messed up ruining somebody's day by stealing their work clothes.

Anyway these crimelord employees, most of them are anti-heroes themselves albeit to a much much more isolated context, their evil deeds may plunge society into chaos and only benefit a single loved one. Kind of like a super twisted super biased Robin Hood.

He is because of this ( and because he carries a voodoo doll as a weapon )

skip to 0.40

The best antiheroes IMO are the ones that are not only well developed and captivating, but also make you unsure to a degree as to whether you should be rooting for them.

Nier and Joel.

I love Anti-heros alot. Its the easiest way to give the illusion of depth. If theres one type of Character type I don't like at all. Its the "Innocent Murderer"..... Obviously innocent people don't kill people even those who deserve it. But the Hero needs vengeance and Justice must be served all while somehow preserving the Hero's innocense. Hence they write up a convulted, unlikely scenario where the Hero accidentaly but still directly causes the death of the villain. I freaking hate this when this happens in movies and I'm gratefull how unlikely it is in Video Games as you'l be killing mofos left and right ! :D

Kane and Lynch, garbage games based on excellent anti-heroes. I suppose there is an argument that they are just out right bad guys.

Max Payne

Auron from FFX is pretty awesome. Don't know if you'd count him as an anti-hero though.

This is the worst definition of an anti-hero I have ever seen. :)

An antihero is one who lacks the qualities associated with a hero, courage, selflessness, goodness, etc, and is often unwittingly thrust into the position of hero, against his or her very nature. Ash from the Evil Dead movies is another fantastic example of an anti-hero.

You are confused about the definition of an anti-hero.
