@harrygooch: Seems like you rushed through the game, and probably didn't see a fraction of the wasteland. I'm 30 hours in and have barely scratched the surface.
I love the randomness of the game, like I was doing some recon on a facility at night, and a BoS bird landed close by and engaged a fortress of super mutants. They destroyed the BoS easily as I watched, hidden in the night and waited until the fire fight was over, then crept in close and pillaged the corpses of both sides and nabbed some sweet gear.
I love that kind of atmosphere and it happens all the time out in the wild. Surprisingly unscripted moments like that really immerse me in the world.
There's just so much to see and do beside the main story, and so many different way to play the game. I've had a blast just building up the Minute Men and the settlements. Building bases, searching for parts, growing food, modding weapons and armor and developing resources.
And then you can get to know your companions. I've only found a few of them so far, and I'm not using guides or watching youtube vids to help me, and I've upped the difficulty so that it's not easy to just stumble forward like rambo and mindlessly destroy the enemy with little resistance.
Obviously I'm playing as a good guy this time. The game is going to have a ton of replay ability, because I don't think I can see and do everything my first time around.
