http://gamingbolt.com/this-is-how-assassins-creed-4-will-look-if-it-is-set-in-china

Go to the link for all the concept arts, all beautifully made by ChaoyuanXu from Deviant Art.

It would be absolutely perfect, the culture, the story, there is so much potential. Plus there is the use of martial arts, it could be a great Assassin's Creed game. Well, only if Ubisoft doesn't mess it up (if they ever do end up making it). Come on Ubisoft, there is no viable reason NOT to make an AC game set in Asia.

China, along with Japan, would be terribly boring. Those two locations have been done to death. How about something new?

Arent we gonna get a war of 1812 game when Connor is old? a la Brotherhood and Revelations? if he is in his 20's during AC3, the war ended in 1783 I believe, he'd be in his mid to late 50's in the war of 1812.

Better, but from what I hear Ubisoft is thinking about having India as the next AC location, which I think would be nice. It's a location that doesn't get a lot of exposure in gaming, outside of the occasional RTS game.

It would look better in Indonesia. A land with many cultures from Asian to Melanesian Papuan that was colonised by Europeans. Since Desmond is mostly caucasian. It would tied to the story.

Assassin's Creed should go away for a couple years. Come back when they have some new ideas. The series is so stale right now.

Very cool article about an ancient Chinese pyramid tomb. Don't forget the army of life size teracotta statues as well. Uber potential lore/history for the devs to explore.

Name the games?

I can think of tenchu which did assasinations and that's it.

And I would greatly welcome a new tenchu game that didn't suck.

Actually I would like the entire franchsize to just die, start over with a new IDEA but similar gameplay.

enough of this BS assassin vs. templars crap, it's worn out it's welcome.

Perhaps set it in a setting of political intrigue while keeping the supernatural Pissing contest to a minimum.

I'd like either a feudal japan setting or ancient china honestly.

Actually, if they implemented the supernatural like the thief series did for example, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Tenchu did it also, the graveyard level with the undead.

But keep it at a minimum, none of this Stupid crap about pieces of eden anymore.

Yeah, they are to focused on the short term though, they get 8 million sales a year from it and they dont want to stop. If they play their cards right this franchise can go on for another 25+ years. If they keep making mistakes, it could be like Tony Hawk or Guitar Hero.

It's currently heading towards tonyhawk territory.

They really need to either give this series a break, or start over with a new assassin. Desmond is old and tired and by the looks of it dead.

If they did china I would really hope they would go with the guy that did the Main leads voice for Sleeping dogs, he really did a great job.

I find it funny people think AC could ever be "fresh" after the milking it sustained this gen. Then again, after the first game, all they really did was toss in a bunch of unrelated minigames to pad out the length of the games. If they were to take The Secret Crusade and turn it into a game, I'd buy it.

It would be awesome if they would give it a break, I just don't see it happening until the franchise becomes unpopular. Assassin's Creed is Ubisoft's Call of Duty and they make tons of money off of it.

Yeah the mission design and pacing of the campaign are both hideous. After playing the first 10h I even made a "wtf is going on here"-thread in SW :P. Walk, press B to interact, walk, press B to interact, short tutorial, walk, walk, B to interact for like 10h (and having finished the game not much else was going on). They introduced a new none-exciting mechanic in every single mission complete with tutorials and handholding. It's the worst campaign for any game I have ever played I think.

I completely agree with you, but the devs simply won't do it. They convoluted the story so much, and made the sci-fi elements become even more annoying as the games progress. The Desmond parts were terrible ever since the beginning, but the devs keep cinging to it. Sadly it seems like creating a good and meaningful story is a rarity in gaming. That's where Assassin's Creed really fails. Not only that, but they seem to have a really hard time understanding that nobody wants countering for combat. Literally all you do is counter. With Assassin's Creed III they raved on about some totally new combat system that's way improved and built from the ground up, well guess what Ubisoft, it's still 99% countering! Only this time, they made it use less buttons.

It just frustrates me when devs don't listen to feedback from their fans or community, the same thing happened with Elder Scrolls. People ask for better combat, but instead they keep it as the same old hack and slash. I don't expect anything better from the next Assassin's Creed game or the next Elder Scrolls game, which is a shame because there's a lot of potential there. We need another dev to step up and make a game like Assassin's Creed done right, you know, with actual stealth. It's not a stealth assassination if you take on an entire army to get to the target, Ubisoft.

Yes, definitely. I was so hyped for Assassin's Creed III because it seemed like they finally fixed everything wrong with AC III, and that supposed 3 year development time, but nope. Same old horrid AI, bad combat, only this time they added terrible framerates and terrible draw distance. They said that they're not going to stop though, so expect another AC game in 2013. And let's not get started on the stealth. I don't get it, Far Cry 3 is also from Ubisoft yet the stealth and AI in that game is great. Can they seriously not just...take it from Far Cry 3, and...incorporate it in Assassin's Creed?

Seriously, if they made an Assassin's Creed game with actual assassin's (not demi-gods that auto-counter entire armies), actual stealth (run up to target in middle of crowd and stab does not = stealth), a meaningful story, no (or very minimum) sci-fi, and all set in an interesting time period (Asia, India, etc.), then I would cry with joy. But until then, I am never buying an Assassin's Creed game again.

Nah, apparently Ubisoft has something against fresh ideas and quality story telling. Fans have been tossing them all sorts of brilliant ideas ever since the first AC game, and the best they could come up with was connor in AC III. Same story of a guy that has a sad thing happen to him and turns him into an assassin.
