US is the biggest market so it is important, but yeah worldwide is all that matters in the end. If the Xbone were to fail in the US it would be dead because it has no global brand power.
Yeah, it is the biggest market but EU and Japan are no slouch. For last week's hardware numbers on VGChartz, it says that worldwide sales numbers for PS4 were 124k with 38k in US, 37k in EU and 33k in JP. XB1 at 67k worldwide with 47k in US, 15k in EU and obviously none in Japan, not like it'd have any anyways.
US only. Also, I'm locking this because it's not really SW worthy. It's a question that Google or even that other thread about NPD numbers could have answered.
