Are Driveclub and Bloodborne going to be big?

#1 Edited by TigerSuperman (2355 posts) -

Drive club was supposed to launch with the PS4 but got removed. It seems like the hype may have been hurt a bit because of that and also numerous delays after. However, the game is supposed to be this realistic version of ridge racer with an online focus, and screens show that it looks decent. Considering GT7 won't come out for awhile and GT6 was uh, something, this may have a chance to be big.

As for Bloodborn, I am a bit mixed on it. Souls fans MAY go to it, but I don't think it will push too much for a variety of reasons, some including the fact like the "Souls" is no in the title, Dark Souls 2 just game out, Souls is actually not that big of a franchise, and it's exclusive. Some people say Miyazaki will help with this being big, although Miyazakis popularity has always been largely inflated and i doubt that will do that much as well (How long did it take Ni no Kuni to get past 1 million again?) But considering the upcoming drought of big PS4 games, this may also have the Killzone Shadow Fall effect of people buying it anyway. So there are a lot of factors that can make this and prevent this game from being big.

Bloodborne..Huge for the following of fans. I would say 1.5-2 million sold. leaning more towards 1.5. It has a tight group of fans. Not really a mainstream series. Hardcore following.

Driveclub ... It will be dependent on reception / reviews. I think the graphics alone will push 1-2 million sales regardless of quality. Using killzone as a barometer. If it's a great game. It could reach 3 million sold by the end of the year based on the number of PS4's in the wild.

Drive Club will be total trash . 50 cars no car mods or tuning it's just going to be race unlock new car rinse and repeat. LMFAO!!!

Forza Horizon 2 is 200+ cars unlimited car mods and tuning open world and a PGR style kudo's style exp system for driving stylish. FH2 is going to wipe the floor with Drive Club.

Of course they will be big. Cows love their exclusives. Sony could literally publish discs with just black bars priced at $60, cows will gladly buy it and then gloat about it how it has the deepest blacks ever.

Drive Club will be a slow burner, I think. The PS+ edition could make or break the game TBH.

Bloodborne will be a big success, a lot of people will get one for that and MGS5. It will also jump start the console in Japan.

Couldn't give two shits about Driveclub.

Bloodborne? Fuck yeah.

#13 Posted by freedomfreak (40643 posts) -

Driveclub will come and go.

Bloodborne(Souls games) has a loyal following, so I think that will leave a mark.

#14 Posted by ReadingRainbow4 (14119 posts) -

I don't know about driveclub but Bloodborne will most likely sell systems, especially to hermits who have previously fallen in love with the last two souls games.

I kind of hope not (for DriveClub), I want Evolution to go back to making Motorstorm games. If DriveClub is successful they'll just keep making more DriveClub games, and I want me a next gen Motorstorm game.

Driveclub will probably flop. Bloodborne will definitely sell well though.

Driveclub= Flop.
Bloodborne= huge success.

My predictions never go wrong.

#20 Posted by BldgIrsh (2595 posts) -

I think they'll be the same size physically. The install size might be bigger in drive club though.

#21 Posted by CyberLips (1824 posts) -

Drive Club doesn't really interest me but i have high hopes for Bloodborne.

Everything is about size with you.

Both will be probably be great games, but it's unlikely that either will be "big". Look at sales of Demon's Souls for reference as well as Dark Souls 1 & 2. I'm sure it will be great but it's too niche to be a big seller

#24 Posted by ominous_titan (721 posts) -

Bloodborne will be the biggest game in the souls family I think ,drive club will be popular and forgotten about in six months

#26 Edited by B4X (4793 posts) -

Bloodborne teaser. Th3 D00R! Kind the dumb once it opens! Wait for it. Is this shit real...LMFAO. 80's marketing is BACK!!!

Bad mesure. inFamous SS also has high fidely gfx, but it sold half as many. Also, it clearly has nothing to do with quality. Shadow Fall's sales are most likely due to laucnh title tech demo game hype, which didn't seem to work for Ryse. Considering there's the crew and, i believe, Porject Cars, and since it is a racing game, i dont' expect much besides 1 million.

However, the GT fanbase could be pulled into this one. Ofcourse, Project Cars is an actual sim, so.

Regarding Bloodborne, i dont' think Demon's Souls broke even 1 million. Regarding Dark Souls, i found this pic, should i think is legit, but seems weird. Those are the global sale sfor DS1, and if that chart is correct, the xb360 sold far more copies than the PS3 version.

EDIT: Sorry, just found it on reddit. Those 375k are for PS3 japan, which means it sold 1.3M on both consoles in the rest of the world. Now, how will that translate to possible sales, considering the exclusivity of the title,i don't know.

My guess would be it'll sell anywhere between 1-1.5 million. PC/xbox souls fans with a PS4 will also factor in, ofcourse, but how many of then are there is the key. I do hope it's good and does well

I THINK Ryse just hit the 1 million mark. The lack of exclusive content may give the sales a boost.

That was just a guess by me.

@deadline-zero0: That chart seems to divide Japan sales and International (or Western) sales. Which is why you have PS3 in every description while PC and X360 are only in a few.

If we look at past from software games we can determine that bloodborne won't be that big in terms of popularity. Any game made from the developers of driveclub has never been that popular so driveclub won't be that big as a result. Also driveclub is competing with a franchise in a slowly dying genre that built a following already so that will also hurt it's sales potential.

#32 Posted by silversix_ (14643 posts) -

Blood will be popular because of stellar gameplay and exclusivity. Drive Club will be popular mainly because its visuals will shit so much at everything available on X1 that it isn't even funny or fair. So yes they'll both be popular

#33 Edited by nervmeister (15246 posts) -

Bloodborne will surely have a healthy following like all games in the Souls series (1-2 million seller easily) , but I cant say yet whether it'll be popular. Driveclub I'm less optimistic about. For one, it's a new IP that has to prove itself. And secondly, it has to deal with potentially being overshadowed ironically by Granted Turismo.

#34 Edited by Doozie78 (306 posts) -

I suspect both will do alright, but so far neither of them look that amazing. I will give Driveclub the bonus of having really nice graphics but if the gameplay isn't there (and the lack of wheel support is true) then I will not be pleased. Bloodporn looks pretty cool so I'm hopeful but I won't hold my breath for the game to live up to expectations. Now we wait for the results...

Goddamn hype machine is spouting lies and hollow truths at all times so you can't really trust any of them.

Shit i didn't know they were showing gameplay of bloodborne today. now im fully erect for this

This is some very bad logic that does not make sense and has been proven wrong numerous times. Although I believe the hype for DC is dead, and the company did not push themselves out enough.

i don't care about Driveclub,

Bloodborne i will get 12.01am day 1

Bloodborne will do fine. I know a few people who are mega pumped for it and if I ever get a PS4 I fully plan on getting it.

No to driveblub. Looks like poop.

But Bloodborne looks amazing!

New IPs are risky. It's much safer to crank out established franchises like another Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Zelda, Uncharted, Mario, GeoW (Gears of War), Gran Turismo, Forza, Madden, or Tomb Raider than make a new IP.

Who knows what the future holds.

I will say this. As a gamer I prefer fresh new IPs instead of crusty old IPs, in most cases. I follow developers more than I follow franchises.

the new GC trailer is ridiculous. looks a million times better than pcars.
