Aonuma: Zelda Footage Was In Engine, Real Time Gameplay

I assume it's in a debug mode with 'cinematic' camera angles that track the player differently than the game otherwise will.

But yeah, that is some impressive shit. The game looks absolutely stunning and gorgeous, AND it's open world, and to hear it's real time in engine gameplay... take a bow, Aonuma, you outdid yourself.

there is nothing impressive on wii-u

you guys should hype gameplay and art and not GFX

I pretty much figured that considering the obvious aliasing. Looks great though and I know I've said it enough, but I really dig the style.

prepare for the naysayers, everyone hates these terms in-engine and real-time I've found :P

Yeah i thought it was In game. doesn't look like CG but impressive none the less.

Good job nintendo, great artstyle.

What I don't get is that while this game does look good, it doesn't look so good that people should be questioning its authenticity.

The style carries it more than anything else.

Because god forbid Nintendo fans actually praise graphics when they want to.

#9 Posted by lglz1337 (3779 posts) -

@nintendoboy16: art looks great, GFX not so much

but calm down man i do not hate on nintendo, i rather see them succesfull, but GFX will not bring them there where they should be!

Doubtful. I bet it's a short cutscene of the beginning of a boss fight shown in engine right before the transition to gameplay. Previous Zeldas have done the same thing many times.

#11 Posted by m_machine024 (14991 posts) -

Hmm did anyone thought otherwise tho? It clearly looks like gameplay.

#12 Edited by Maroxad (8275 posts) -

Yeah, I could tell it was in engine using some kind of debug mode, with most likely a few cinematic moments. Like when the PC threw off his cape and made that leap. Unless of course, Roc's feather is back. The camera and movement made it clear it was ingame and in engine.

Maybe I've been spoiled, but I didn't think the graphics were that great. No doubt though that it is shaping up to be another great installment.

wow. they should have also asked him if the battles with the boss will be as dynamic as shown in the footage it would be really awesome if they are. also does that mean link can now jump from the horse and shoot arrow any time? it sort of implies it

I would'nt get my hopes up too much ;)

I thought it was pretty obviously the in-game rendering engine.

Regardless, it looks very nice with a nice draw distance.

The game looks fantastic. Cannot wait to see more on this title.

When I saw the game, my jaw fell through the floor. Still trying to find it. Zelda looks beautiful.

#19 Posted by Sollet (7382 posts) -

Uh were there people who thought this looked so mind blowing good that they were in denial or something?

lol sheeps.

#20 Posted by PurpleMan5000 (7280 posts) -

The game looks fantastic. Of course that means nothing if the game ends up being as awful as most open world games are. I just hope Nintendo can keep it focused.

Shut your dirty mouth.

It was an impressive looking game.

And it's absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait.

#23 Posted by finalfantasy94 (26516 posts) -

If that is truly how its going to look then its going to be one hell of a pretty game.

I laughed when I saw this and the Uncharted 4 1080p/60fps thread next to each other.

Their standards are not on our level

I haven't been impressed visually by nintendo in quite a while but this did impress me. Looked great~

AAA

#28 Posted by Audacitron (915 posts) -

Are we supposed to be impressed? The tech demo from a few years ago was impressive. Also supposedly running realtime in-engine.

Wii U may be lacking the power that the other two consoles have but Nintendo has shown they can make some fantastic looking games. Mario 3D World, DKTF, Mario Kart 8.

#30 Posted by foxhound_fox (88439 posts) -

Obviously. The aliasing kind of gave it away.

#31 Posted by silversix_ (14651 posts) -

This is impressive for Wii, Xbox, PS2. This is NOT impressive for 7th gen. Almost a joke for 8th gen. I could understand a sheep that never bought anything else but a Nintendo system (a gen behind so its understandable) being impressed with this because they're getting like 4 open world games per gen but im not sure wtf you find so impressive in this. For example, this looks worst, much much worst than Ass Creed and ass creed looks outdated...

#32 Posted by NEWMAHAY (3760 posts) -

I am very curious to see what nintendo can push out of the Wii U

On a technical standpoint, the graphics were not all that great.

What made the whole thing impressive however was the superb scale and draw distance.

There's no rule against asking mouthbreathers questions.

It's fair enough to say that this game is not graphically impressive, but anybody comparing this to a PS2 game is visually illiterate and stupid.

With a much smaller scale. And really, look at that grass, it is hideous.

It was kinda obvious it was in game/gameplay, you'd have to be pretty daft not to notice.

#49 Posted by PurpleMan5000 (7280 posts) -

Why would you go with an image from Uncharted rather than The Last of Us?
