Well I almost never buy any multiplats for my consoles since those all go to my PC, but there were a couple times it happened.
For example, I rented the PS3 version of Tomb Raider from RedBox just to try it out and soon after bought it off Steam for my PC. Being able to play it with a smooth frame rate, rather than the juddery frame rate in the PS3 version made the game feel and look so much better in motion. Not to mention the PC version just looks vastly better with the tesselation, higher resolution textures, higher quality SSAO, higher res contact hardening shadows, etc.
The other one is Castlevania Lords of Shadow which I bought for my PS3 since there was no PC version at the time and since it is such an amazing game that I couldn't pass up. It was a beautiful game on the PS3--easily some of the best visuals on consoles--but it also had a lot of slowdown and jaggies. On the PC I get a rock solid 60fps and it transforms the experience. It feels amazing to play now and I can really appreciate everything Mercury Steam did with the combat and the animations. I also use SMAA through RadeonPro and that improves the image quality a lot, as does the texture filtering and 1080p resolution.
