I just can't get myself to purchase the XB1 knowing there will eventually be a slim version down the road.

Usually the size of a console doesn't bother me, but to me the XB1 was made unnecessarily big, especially when compared to the PS4. Then you add the fact that it still requires an external power brick. Are the engineers at Microsoft incompetent, or is Sony's engineers that much better?

The XB1 design just seems lazy to me. They were obviously told to avoid another RROD issue, so they just decided to make a big ass box with lots of venting, instead of making something more efficient like the PS4 design. Its been a little over a year and the vast majority of PS4's are still doing just fine, so what is Microsoft's excuse for the poor/lazy design?

No. Console size doesn't matter. If it was a handheld, then yes. I am however waiting to get one because i have way too many games on my backlog currently. (Pc, wiiu, 3ds, ps4).

No, already got one. I don't get the praise/love for slim models. But whatever. I'd get it now if you know you're going to get one since it comes with two games right now.

Yes. I'm not even going to think about getting an Xbox One until a smaller and better looking one comes out. I'm not a fan of the VCR model at all.

Microsoft wanted to go for a secure AND silent console. With secure, I mean no overheating problems, but PS4 doesn't have these so that's not really an issue. But the Xbox One is extremely silent, DF test is showing a difference of 10dB while gaming. The Xbox One barely goes over 40dB, which is very silent. That's a choice some people like, and I'm one of those, my Xbox One is behind a door anyway...

I´d love to see a smaller power brickless version ( I guess I can wait like forever on the power brickless subject, huh ? ), I can wait for a slim one, right now from what I want there´s only MCC, Halo 5 is still months to be launched and a new Gears who knows how long it´s going to take, I´m in no rush.

It's only a matter of time until both see new models, but it seems like a silly reason to wait if you really want it...

Well, I'm pretty sure when the Slim model comes out it would already have gotten another price cut by then.

After my experiences with the Xbox 360, I'm waiting on a redesign and games I want before a purchase. My brother got an Xbox One. One thing that struck me was how quiet it is. It's the opposite of the 360 when it launched.

I generally prefer the original model over the slim model of most consoles and even if I did want a slim model, I still think it is silly to wait years for a slim model release when you could be enjoying the console right now.

Not sure if it will get that much slimmer. DX12 will produce more heat and they're not about to get into a red ring of death situation.

@emgesp: As long as you don't mind waiting until 2016 for one. They will have sold well over 20 million units by then. Don't think people will wait long after the E3.

Looks like a giant eraser. Not sexy at all. Both system have terrible design compared to last gen systems.

I don't have a PS4 yet but I hear from those that have both have said the PS4 can be noisy. I appreciate the quietness of the Xbox One and if it needed to be that big to be that quiet I'm ok with that. Slim version my equal a price reduction and that could be the reason they pushing it through.

DX12 won't increase the TDP of the console. It is just a software update for developers.

I would like to see a PS4 slim, but the PS4 is already pretty small. So IDK...

But you know whats something I really want? Is another version of the DS4. You know how the 360 last gen released a new "improved" version of the 360 controller I would like to see that for the DS4.

Nothing really needs to be improved, but the battery life on it. but it would be nice to see a new updated version.

um..... i dont know where you heard that from but the PS4 is quite. It is just like the fat PS3, maybe a little more quiet than the Fat PS3.

IDK how quiet the PS3 slim was, but I know the Super slim was really quiet but you could heard the clicks from the disk loading because of its top loading disk tray design, which really wasnt anything that mattered but compared to the other PS3's that didnt make those little noises, it was noticeable at first.

I prefer the Super slim anyways, those little noises are too little at the end of the day to really care or notice after you've had it for a while.

The Xbox One could be reduced to the size of my phone and I still wouldn't want one. Same could be said for the PS4 and Wii U, though.

@emgesp: A slim won't come till 2016 at the latest, no way that slightly over a year will the PS4 and Xbox one be making Slim models. Especially since it takes awhile for both to get that in the product line and they would have to cut shipments and wait for an opening in the channels to even put the new Sku's in.

It's also worth note that both consoles outside some small issues with the DS4 controller 9and i guess battery life on that as well0 are fine with no real defects causing issues, at least as far as we know. no rush at all to make a Slim model, and it will only happen if they can drop the price of the NEWLY manufactured slim model to $299-$350 otherwise it will be a big loss.
