I'm a big Sony fan and went with PS3 last gen and I'm getting an Xbox One. It's $150 cheaper with a trade in, it's good for all around entertainment, Kinect looks fun, and I want Halo 5.

I'm more of a casual gamer now than I used to be, so I don't really care so much about 900p vs 1080p and by the time the huge wave of Sony exclusives come out, I'll probably be too busy with IRL stuff to care.

Brand loyalty is locked in to Microsoft. Maybe someday I'll get a Sony product again...........around gen 12.

I went with brand loyalty this time. I was an early adopter if thats what its called, not people who buy at launch, but that buy after couple of years. I went with Wii last time cause i was mainly a PC gamer and choose to go with Wii U this time around also. I was happy with the quality of the system and the games. I didnt care which console was better, i just wanted to play Nintendo games really. I was really happy with the Gamecube and when i heard Wii would also play Gamecube it seemed like a no brainer. Weird thing was i wasnt to big on the Wii early on, i was still playing Gamecube games on it a bunch. But little by little i started to get s few good Wii games also. Gamecube and Wii helped me get into Nintendo, then i went to PS3 while i waited for Wii U to be out for a few years.

I got Wii U last Christmas, but i already have a pretty sweet set of Wii U games so far. More than i had on my Wii at the same time. I kinda stick to brand loyalty until i have a reason not to. My loyalty was so strong this year that i bought Splatoon day 1. Ill be buying Xenoblade Chronicles X day 1 also cause of my loyalty being high on it.

I agree people shouldnt use brand loyalty, just because ive had success in it with Nintendo, Blizzard, Valve, etc doesnt mean others will. I would never tell someone to use brand loyalty, but i would also find no problem in people having loyalty in the things they love. But you must be careful, lots of companies could care less about long term success and just want short term profits, so we must still tread lightly.

I'm not massively loyal to a brand (although I've always had a small soft spot for Xbox).... But I generally pick the best console that suits my needs best each generation. Last gen I was mostly PS, this gen Xbox.

Im not an early adopter and never been but I always end up with a Sony consol.

Before buying a PS2 I got a Gamecube, before buying the PS3 I had a 360.

This time around I have a 3DS and a WiiU. I've been quite satisfied as I don't play nearly as much as I did. I'm still unsure about the PS4 and X1. I still like my combo of 3DS and WiiU. I like Sony varied offering but at the same time I'm interested in X1 this time around. On PS3 I liked a very few exclusive, while I liked a lot more exclusive 360 so ... I'm not sure.

For a very long time now, I have bought the systems that have had the games that I have wanted. That is not changing this generation either.

It has nothing to do with brand loyalty. I always prefered sony consoles because its 1st party was always more interesting to me. I go were the games are and for three gens in a row I went with PlayStation a decision I never regreted. Their games are just the most appealing

I'm happy with my Ps4, exclusive third party support flocks directly towards the PS4 as it dominates the market, it was the safest bet. The Xbox One appears to sit flat on its ass while third party developers, specially from Japan, develop games exclusively for the PS4, relegating the Xbox to a secondary choice, thats basically the state of this generation and my gosh, the share feature... sexi and the competition hast nothing on it.

Brand loyalty is just silly. Why limit the selection of games you have access to? If you can afford it, you buy all the platforms. PC of course should be the primary with the consoles providing some exclusives.

Bought the 360 last gen and it lasted me years until late 2012 when I upgraded to a PS3. Got everything out of the gate this gen, almost day one. (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, GTX 970)

I own a Wii U, PS4, Xbox 360, NN3DS and a PS Vita, so I don't think I really have a loyalty to a specific company.

Never been loyal to any brand but I've owned every Playstation even the slim versions of the ps1 and 2. I also purchased my first ps3 for $999 the month of release. And yet I don't even want a ps4. The systems specs, along with it's integrated social media aspects, the lack of media codec support, and it's forced online fee all made me go and finally build myself the pc I've all ways wanted. No more looking for games I might be able to run now I can literally run anything :). I've all ways played on pc just had a shit tri core running a integrated Geforce 6150se so the change up to an i7 and a gtx 7704gb was huge. And I don't think I'll ever be turning back.

For everyone that bought the next gen consoles early, wouldnt you have to buy it out of a brand loyalty, clearly not enough games to make a sound decision on that alone, yall would have had to make a choice on who you thought would release better future games. Which would in turn made you loyal to their future.

@drekula2: I've started (or kept) a nice collection of previous systems so brand loyalty is out the window.. It's a silly concept to begin with.

i have a brand preference but i have no brand loyalty. i buy the games i want on whatever platform its available on. if my game is on xbox1, then ill buy it on the xbox1. if its on ps4, ill get it on ps4. if its on pc....i'll just keep wishing i had a gaming pc lol (i actually bought pc games i cant run)

the only thing i am is i refuse to buy nintendo until they fix their shit and cater to ppl that want more than mario & zelda. i dont want last gen hardware, gimmick controllers, and i want their handheld rpgs on consoles like pokemon, fire emblem, golden sun and advanced wars.

This gen i went like always with Nintendo and the WiiU, last gen PS3 was my favorite console so Sony won me for this gen and i was sure to get a PS4 as well...but after so many missteps with the new consoles and how disappointing they have been, i think i'll stick to WiiU and PC since there's hardly a reason to get either a PS4 or an X1.

I remember the last time I had brand loyalty. I owned a Sega Genesis and couldn't afford to get a SNES because I was 12. Therefore Sega was for bad ass adults and SNES was for kids. Yeah, that's what I told myself.

Then summer came along, I mowed what seemed like countless yards and I got my SNES which went on to become my favorite console. That was the end of fanboyism for me.

It seems impossible that anybody past their pre-teens could let a brand dictate their gaming, yet here we are on a message board full grown ass men that do just that. Amazing really, but I won't complain since you guys provide the lulz.

I have never been loyal to a brand. And that goes beyond gaming systems.

I have a philips tv in the livingroom, jvc tv in the bedroom, a sony stereo, kenwood car stereo with jvc speakers.. 360 and Ps3 sitting next to each other, Casio digital camera, Iphone.. etc etc

I don't think you can get any less loyal to a brand than me lol

QFT.

I've owned several different consoles over the years. I used to be Sega until they died. Well Sega/Nintendo. After Sega died I only made sure I bought Nintendo consoles and a side piece. But it never stopped me from dabbling in other systems. I got a 3DO and I was going to get a Ouya before they collapsed. I still may. This generation and most likely every generation after I will be Nintendo/PC. As much as I loved 360, there's no point in a X1 if they give all their exclusives to PC. Same with PS4. I get almost everything both the twins get but on PC.

Brand loyalty is ****** stupid, I chose the console that seemed to do most of the things right. Last gen I owned all of the consoles at some point of time, only the Wii had to go eventually. This time Sony's console was the first of the new machines that was worth buying IMO.

I"m loyal to the games, that's all. I have all the consoles so I can play as many of them as I can. I have an equal amount of games on both the X1 and PS4 and I'm enjoying all the games I have on both consoles. Just got Batman on the PS4 and before that got ESO on the X1. Never saw the point to being loyal to any 1 company and it's pointless to buy a $350 to $400 console and whine and complain that it doesn't have any games when it clearly does but you limiting yourself from playing games on that console you paid that money for. All these companies are giving you games to play but you just want to come in a troll is just useless.

Being mainly a PC gamer, I decided to get only 1 x console this gen.. PS4 !!
