Anybody Not a Fan of Final Fantasy Games???

I've never really played them until now and I've been playing VI or III whatever you want to refer it too as that is the one I was recommended I start with and I just can't get into it whatsoever. The turn based gameplay does not appeal to me in the slightest which is a shame because I really like a good story in games and according to many none do it better than Final Fantasy and I'm a fan of RPG's like Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect but I can't seem to overcome my problem with the turned based gameplay which is obviously a big part of the game.

I'm not a fan the RPG genre in general, so yeah, Final Fantasy doesn't interest me at all.

If Elder Scrolls or Mass Effect (:lol: ) is more to your liking, best look elsewhere.

You won't get much in the way of satisfaction forcing yourself through Final Fantasy games.

I was thinking that myself but I'm willing to give it chance but It just isn't my thing I think.

It's funny that you say this because I have always had the opposite problem. I love RPGs. I prefer turn based games as opposed to other forms. I've been like that ever since I was a kid. I don't only play RPGs, I play all kinds of games,but they are by far my favorite type of game. I actually enjoy the slower pace and the grinding. I know that may sound weird but its true.

If you don't enjoy the turn based system maybe you could try an action RPG. If you picked up FFIV and didn't like it then I would suggest Secret of Mana. That game is timeless.

If VI isn't to your liking, the rest of the games might also be out of your preferred tastes.

I'd recommend XII, since it goes for a more strategic/real-time approach, but I wouldn't want to be the cause of more dissatisfaction. Look into it yourself, see if you like, and decide then. :)

How can you not be a FF fan? Each one starting with like III (in series order, I don't mean VI, but the real III) offers something different, you're bound to find one you like.

Nah. The only RPG series I ever got into was pokemon.

Or at least all that is opinion. XIII was great, and XII was superb.

It's okay if you didn't like the game. FF6 was a lousy FF game anyway :P You could try others, but they don't change much gameplay wise. at least you tried, right?DressSage

I disagree. FFXIII is a very good game. And I'm playing through FFVI (about 20 hours now) and, as the jingle goes, I'm lovin it.

Last FF I played was...X.Yes,I liked that a lot.I played FF12,but I didn't finish it.

I have tried about 3 or 4 different FF games over different platforms and can't say I could get into any, just not my cuppa tea... ironic really because it's a FF clone that I ended up making for my team project last year at uni! haha

I agree some of the latest installments are not that great, but I wouldn't say the entire series in is one of the worst ever. Some of the earlier installments ore on numerous greatest of all time lists

FF gameplay never really interested me.

FF13 was crap, FF14 was a disaster, ff12 was meh. Tales of Vesperia is the best JRPG so far this gen,Birdy09

I disagree, Xenoblade absolutely blows Vesperia and all other JRPGs this gen out of the water, and that's coming from a huge fan of the Tales franchise.
