Analyst: Titanfall won't save the Xbox against the PS4

Sony's Playstation 4 has outsold Microsoft's Xbox One in 2013 and gap between the two is of over a million units (PS4 sold over 4.2 million units and Xbox One shipped 3.9 million by end of Dec 2013). But Microsoft is hoping to close on this gap before it get out of hands, and they are pinning their hopes on Respawn Entertainment's upcoming sci-fi FPS "Titanfall".

According to Ketu Patel, Amazon UK Category Leader of VideoGame And Software, Titanfall will definitely provide a boost to sales of Xbox One and this difference in sales figure will decrease.

Patel however later added (as a personal view) that the sales figure gap between PS4 and Xbox One is BIG and Microsoft's still has a lot of catching up to do, and with won't be achievable with Titanfall ALONE.

Speaking to Edge At Amazon's Summer Wish List, Ketu Patel said: "If you look at our bestsellers chart PS4 always has been, and still is, our number one best seller,"

"Xbox One will fall somewhere within the top five. Obviously one console has outperformed the other generally and we probably confirm that split between the two."

When asked to comment on Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall, Patel said: "[Titanfall] will be a big driver. I think Microsoft have got themselves a big coup there in negotiating that with EA. It will help close the gap, but personally speaking I think that gap is quite a big one at the moment. There’s a lot of catching up to do."

Rightly said by Patel, Microsoft is hoping wonders from Titanfall for Xbox One, but that HOPE is TOO MUCH?,

I think everyone but lems know that it is unrealistic to expect a multiplatform MP only FPS that is on 2 other systems to sell millions of $500 Xbones. Titanfall may be the FPS of the year (unlikely with Destiny) but even being that won't save the Xbone considering you still have to spend $500+tax+$60 to play it. Most of the sales for Titanfall will mostly come from 360. Lems need to get back to reality.

Who expects it to?

There's a huge likelihood that gamers will not latch on to Titanfall like they did with Call of Duty and just go right back to CoD... despite all the hype, i suspect Titanfall will be met with mostly 'mehs' by gamers and critics alike. Im not saying it will be bad, just not compelling enough to pull players from Activision's steel grasp. And certainly not good enough to pull Xbone ahead of PS4 in console sales.

I'll be playing Titanfall at 1440p on my PC while you struggle at 720p. Does it make you cry?

Honestly.... Although I think Titanfall is going to be a big deal (not like its going to be an amazing game, i mean big deal the way COD was a big deal but at the end of the day it wasnt anything all that good or uniquely stellar with COD, but it still manage to be a big deal for a long time, God only knows why), but I at the same time I feel like everyone who was and is planning on buying TITANFALL already bought the X1 for it. I dont see flocks of people buying X1s for TF.

i just hope the textures aren't progressive scan as was pointed out by a playstation supporter.

Honestly, TitanFall has 2 major concerns when it comes to being able to move Xbox One's.

1. It's Multiplat - Why buy a $500 console if you have a 360 or PC?

2. It's a new IP - New IP's almost NEVER sell consoles. It's the sequels that do usually.

1440p looks the same as 480p when playing on a crappy 15inch monitor.

DPI is the holy grail of visual fidelity.

I might be overly optimistic, but I still think inFAMOUS SS has a good chance to outsell the Xflop version of Titanfall.

Otherwise, Infamous 2 is AA on metacritic and TLoU won over 200 goty awards.
