Why the hipsters though?

Cool video.

Imagine if Nintendo did something like this. From NES to the wii U, from greatness to the biggest sh*t.

Even more proof that people cling on to Playstation simply because of nostalgia.

Man I wish they would go back to that PS1 start up logo and the sound lol. Good times...good times.

Oh well, its going to trample the XboxOne for this entire generation for one reason or another.

Pretty neat video.

As a poster above said, Nintendo could do something AMAZING with this idea, I would LOVE to see something like that. ='D

It made me smile. The memories I had with the playstation brand... :)

#21 Posted by MBirdy88 (8330 posts) -

The camera movement made me feel motion sickness.

Praying on nostalgia? I don't need a commercial to tell me i liked past playstation. but playstation was just one part of gaming.

Indeed.

Better games and sales.

Awesome. that pretty much was my room during the PS2 era...

#25 Posted by Truth_Hurts_U (9260 posts) -

Thought I never owned a PS or PS2. I can see and feel what they were trying to convey in that video.

It's been one hell of a gaming life. So much change and good memories.

#26 Posted by Clock-w0rk (3238 posts) -

Oh wow I loved this, I'm from London, my room pretty much looked like that through PS1/PS2/early PS3 days and that signed school shirt, I still got mine.

Hnnng cant wait for PS4

Really because most of the PS3s AAAs are new ips of this gen, dumbass. Want to see nostalgia? Look at nintendo

Gotta say, that was quite a nostalgic retrospective.

No even more proof that sony is in tune with the gamers and has been for years, and it just shows that sony make quality products

microsoft are only in it because they believe that its money to be made and have no passion,

sony on the other hand, come across as a passionate company who believe in games.

Too bad playstation is a shell of its former self.

They can't ride that nostalgia train forever.

Quite stunning actually and it brings me great joy knowing that SONY and the PS brand is more alive than ever.

#32 Posted by 35cent (916 posts) -

I like that trailer a lot. I felt some serious nostalgia seeing the PS1 and hearing some of the sound effects at the beginning. BTW this is for a competition to win one of 20 PS4 consoles. So if you live in the UK and wouldn't mind having a chance to get a free PS4 then this is for you.

#33 Posted by EPaul (9906 posts) -

PS1 boot sound still gives me chills

#34 Posted by blackace (20886 posts) -

Not bad, not great. I would love to see them do this with SEGA systems. So many incredible memories all the way to the Dreamcast. All my SEGA systems still work, even the awful 32X.

#35 Posted by jer_1 (7451 posts) -

Neat commercial. It does bring back some memories of the tekken days of my youth!

#37 Posted by LordOfPoms (1086 posts) -

It's a brand loyalty ad, meant to remind you of all the great times you had with PlayStation. Made me think of selling my old Sega Saturn for a PSX and getting Tenchu. Memories...

Sony definitely makes the best commercials.

#39 Edited by Pedro (21110 posts) -

Sorry but I could not help but noticed that the PS4 has less games. LOL.

#40 Edited by RedentSC (701 posts) -

@Clock-w0rk: This is amazing .. well done :D

#41 Posted by _Matt_ (8924 posts) -

That was a pretty good one actually, I liked that. I find Sony's adverts can be very hit and miss, but this was fine.

#42 Posted by finalfantasy94 (26582 posts) -

That was pretty cool. Though I cant stand fake playing game acting. Noone plays like that dammit.

#43 Posted by good_sk8er7 (4322 posts) -

Was kinda moving actually. I've had playstations (and nintendo consoles) since I was child. Really brings back memories.

Launch line ups mean nothing. Libraries grow over time for all platforms, assuming their market longevity.

#46 Posted by TruthBToldShow (328 posts) -

Its okay. We spent almost as much time looking out that window over and over as we did seeing classic, memorable PS games.

Could/should have been more impactful

#47 Edited by gameofthering (10321 posts) -

I see Zelda and/or Link in the video!

or somebody that looks like them :P

#48 Posted by Zophar87 (4351 posts) -

I got feels but only because that's exactly how my old room used to look when I lived with my parents. lol

That is true, the whole mashing every dam button stupidly fast constantly. Only people who have no idea what they're doing on fighting games do that...

That is one thing which struck me as peculiar. I mean occupying the same space for at least 18 years, and assuming that the guy starts out between 17-20 years old. I mean if that was a college dorm, he should have graduated long before PS2 came out. And if that's his room at his parents place... then what the hell is he still doing there when PS4 launches?? LOL :P
