100% day one. Alien is definitely the best movie in the franchise and this game looks like it will be awesome.

When is it coming out?

Q4 2014, hopefully it won't be delayed any further!

well that's a bit pants. It will likely come out at the same time as destiny or batman just to mess us up

I think it's gonna be November or December, not Halloween or earlier.

My biggest concern is the price of the game.. It looks amazing but I'm not paying full price for a game without multiplayer

With any luck they won't **** it up like they did Colonial Marines. Aliens Resurrection was the last good Alien game they ever made and that was what, 16 years ago?

Lol very true about Resurrection. It was September 2000. It was near the end of ps1 lifecycle and looked great graphically. It was my favorite FPS on it apart from Quake 2. The atmosphere was great and it was very hard and unforgiving. It was actually more of a FPP survival horror than FPS.

Alien Isolation has been named Game of the Show at Eurogamer's Rezzed Expo.

Story courtesy of Eurogamer:

Game of the Show: Alien Isolation

We have been sceptical about Creative Assembly's ability - anyone's ability - to pull this off ever since it was announced. Gearbox (or whoever it actually was) screwing up Colonial Marines so spectacularly last year may have helped a little by extending Isolation's gestation so it could avoid association by proximity, but it also didn't help, because it suggested that the xenomorph may be too much of a known quantity to hit home any more (especially while dancing). So how do you make the alien scary again and make sure it stays that way over the course of a whole game?

In its developer session, Creative Assembly said it only researched objects created before 1970 to ensure everything new in the world felt authentic.

We won't know for sure until 7th October, but the demo on the show floor is so tense and atmospheric that the real question may be whether or not you can even make it through a whole game without taking a lot of cold showers. Creative Assembly's great success so far is in replicating the film's approach of keeping the alien off-screen the vast majority of the time while offering you constant reminders of its terrifying presence. Other games have used the film's colours, decals and key sounds, but Isolation feels like it's wielding them with the film's hands. Ventilation blades send shadows scattering across mesh floors. Computers are noisy and unintuitive. The ship's engine rumbles inconsistently. The advanced knowledge of your enemy that you thought you were bringing into the game as a shield suddenly becomes your worst nightmare, because everything sets you off, and that's before you even look at your motion tracker.

By the time you reach the end of the demo, you may not even want to look at it. A lot of the time is spent creeping in the shadows trying to face in the same direction as the blip moving on the screen - unable to focus on it and the gloom beyond in the same moment - but as you set up the conditions for your escape you may just want to run for the exit. Betraying your position and rescuing the situation - so often a depressing trudge to reset systems in stealth games - is brilliantly captivating in Alien Isolation as you hold your breath in a locker listening to the blips intensify and watching those famous gritted teeth menace slowly past.

Whenever the alien is on screen it has your complete and undivided attention.

Repeated deaths take a little shine off the tension, but every respawn brings your stress levels right back up, and the wave of relief that washes over you as you finally make your escape is palpable. The questions we have about Alien Isolation are still valid even after the demo, but the best answer to them so far is that it's impossible to think about them at all while you're playing the demo. Because while it lasts, the only thing on your mind is getting the hell out of there.

I would love a good Alien related game.

I am however not going to get myself excited for this one. Though sure the footage does present an interesting looking game.

I'm with this guy. I will wait til somebody actually has an in depth review on this game (and not just base my purchase off Visuals and a 10 minute preview) before I consider putting my money towards this game.

Yes TC I'm on board for this. I love Scott's Alien film, and Fincher's Alien3. I like Camerons film as well, but no game has done a single Alien horror experience. I have kept up on this title, and look forward to it.

I'd like to casually throw a couple of sentiments:

THIS GAME WILL SCARE THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF YOU!

THIS GAME WILL HAVE THE BIGGEST IMPACT SINCE BIOSHOCK EVEN IF IT WON'T BE A BIG COMMERCIAL SUCCESS

Here's the latest interview with Al Hope, the creative director:

Loading Video...

And here's tremendously comprehensive hands-on from the demo:

http://tobephair.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/egx-rezzed-2014-so-i-played-alien.html

I urge you to read it, it's amazingly written.

@Bishop1310: I can respect that. Some were feeling like that in regards to titanfall being multiplayer only. We all assess value for the money we spend, and doing it for yourself by your wants is commendable.

I played this at EGX Rezzed and the only negs i have after playing are that the FOV seemed a bit lower than I am comfortable with and the motion tracker wasnt detecting doors opening or the fans spinning. Other than that I really liked what I played and im not easily impressed by games nowadays.

The level design was very authentic, as was the audio in the environment and the creepy sounds Xenamorph made. There was a sequence where you hide under a table when the Xenamorph comes in, drapes its tail over the desk rght beside you and as you look up you can see chewing gum stuck under the table, good attention to detail. If the rest of the game is like the demo then I have no doubt that I will enjoy it a lot. I really, REALLY hope this game gets VR support.

I actually genuinely want to play this. I just don't know what to think about having only 1 real enemy after you however, unless the other participants on the space station have gone insane.

This still won't sate my need for a proper aliens vs marines game :(, but it's a good start atmosphere wise especially.

There's a new video, which I put in the OP:

Loading Video...

Alien: Isolation is designed to look like the "low-fi sci-fi" universe in Ridley Scott's Alien film, and a video released today on the game's official YouTube channel shows how the developers are recreating that aesthetic.

Press play above to see how The Creative Assembly is recreating the world of the 1979 movie for the upcoming first-person survival horror game, in which period-limited technology will affect gameplay.

"This is a a game set in the future but based on the past," creative lead Al Hope said. "It's a place which we can really relate to. It's also a world where technology won't save you."

^^

That's the main problem I had with Prometheus (I thought it was still a decent movie though), which was the tech (the movie was suppose to be years and years before Alien and somehow the tech was better). Now to see they are actually using the "future analog low tech" vision in Alien is making it's way to Isolation pleases me greatly.

Also glad to hear it's getting some positive feedback.

Such a shame that the Alien isn't a playable monster. Which could explore another aspect of the Horror genre. Predatory Horror.

Again, All the more reason to include one on one Multiplayer. Sadists versus Masochists.

Well anyway, stil wana see how they'l handle managing resources if you can kill everything but the actuall alien. It shouldn't be an issue since you can't melee it, it would just bleed on you.

@Lulu_Lulu: I noticed there was a melee attack in the demo at EGX but I wasnt sure what that was for as as you would expect, the Xenamorph doesnt really give you any time to fight back. I am going to assume that during the campaign there are other things beside the Xenamorph that are your enemy.

Using a single reoccuring alien will also re-establish it as unique villain in its own right instead of using 50 cookie cutter aliens as cannon fodder to express immature power fantasies. So thats big plus.

And you know whats really good, this is a stepfoward forward for survival horror, trying new stuff inspired by the classics unlike The Evil Within which is just feeding off Nostalgia instead of using the classics to try something new. :p haha

@ pelvist According to the developers, there will be other humans and androids that may or may not be hostile towards the protagonist.
