i think mainly the first party titles are going to be that big. I doubt Knack is 50gigs or anywhere close. Another physical gen for me :)campzor
This. I doubt all games are going to be that large, as well. They'll probably be closer to 25GB or less in most cases.
Upgrade your HDD.The real question would be why are you sacrifice 1/10th of your harddrive for a single game?

$ony should have upgraded PSN before they started charging cows for it. What a shambles :?

That's only part of the issue. Most people in the UK don't have 50Mbps+ internet.
I'm at 50MBPS and am going to upgrade to 100 sooner or later so it's not a problem for me. I'm not buying any full retail titles digitally unless that is the only option however.
Buy the disc. 0 seconds ZOMG how fast!!!!!!Netret0120Every game has to be installed on the system. Installing 50GB from disc to HDD will still take a LONG time. It'll take even longer for people going the digital route. I'm more concerned with how much of my 500GB HDD will get used up. You literally need to get a 2TB HDD in advance for the PS4 if you are going to get a lot of games for it.

[QUOTE="Lionheart08"]Upgrade your HDD. Yeah. Sony really should have just not even included a hard drive. They could have just gone with flash memory and priced the console $50 less. Then you could buy your own 2 TB hard drive and be set for the next gen, or if you aren't interested in indie games and digital retail, you could just go with physical copies and save money. The real question would be why are you sacrifice 1/10th of your harddrive for a single game?

Um digital downloads aren't really a viable option for those with 2mb connection speeds then? Â 2mb isn't exactly fast by todays standards.Â
Also why have people seemingly forgot that a certain PS4 feature will allow you to play the game whilst it's downloading?
I don't even think online gaming is viable at that speed.Um digital download aren't really a viable option for those with 2mb connection speeds then? Â 2mb isn't exactly fast by todays standards.Â
Crossel777
It's just simple math, actually. A 2 Mb connection is pretty slow, though. I would say my connection is just ok and it is about 16x faster than that.Hopefully thats just wild speculation and rumor. Cause if not then buying digitally on the PS4 would be a waste of time IMHO.

Usually with digital downloads my ISP is not the problem it is PSN. I can download a 10 GB file in about an hour to my PC and either of my 360s. A 10GB file to the PS3 takes about 3 hours. Even longer if I try to do it during the peak hours of the day. Hell it took almost 5 hours to download KoA this morning, and that was only a little less than 14 GB.
Hopefully if they want people to start downloading 50GB files they will upgrade the PSN speeds first.

unless you're playing an online game with massive player count, fast gameplay and hosting it on a P2P based server then I think you'd be fine even with 512kbps. The important thing here is the ping because you could have a 100MB connection with crap ping and you would lag more than someone playing on a 2MB connection with good ping.

This is a good point. My PS3 also downloads much slower than my other devices. The Wii U is also kind of slow, but I don't really care about that because it downloads when powered off. The PS4 should do that too, so as long as it preloads your games that you preorder, I really don't see the download speed being a big deal.Usually with digital downloads my ISP is not the problem it is PSN. Who the fvck has 0.5Mbps internet connection in 2013? that's worse internet than on mars.
Â
Â
In Norway the cheapest and crappiest internet connection speed you can buy is 10Mbps. for about 50% more money you can get a 30 Mbps connection.
Â
Most people should have a 30Mbps connection at home in this day and age.
Â
Even 100Mbps connections are cheap relatively cheap and represent only a mere percentile of an average income.

Â
erm, what?
Â
on PS3 if you have a 10GB game then you need 20GB of space to install it. Because you have the installation package of the game which is 10GB + 10GB of the installation to the HDD. But after you install the game you can delete the installation package.

oh right, so pretty misleading then. It only ever downloads 10GB, and you only need 20GB of space available at time of download.

in Puerto Rico 512kbps is pretty normal. I have only 4MB and pay $60 and after that the prices for higher speed get stupidly high.

I think anyone with those speeds is unlikely to buy digital copies of games anyway. Heck, I have 20MBps here, but will probably still opt for disc media.
The US has a ton of open space with very few people, where it's not feasible to have high speed internet. DSL is available almost everywhere, but there are a surprising number (about 3%) of people still on dial up. Still, it's not like those people on dial up are going to be connecting their consoles to the internet. Just about everyone can get a DSL connection, but a lot of ISPs that provide DSL to rural areas don't provide speeds above 6 Mb.Who the fvck has 0.5Mbps internet connection in 2013? that's worse internet than on mars.

Damn. here its about $50 for 10Mbps, $80 for 30Mbps, $120 for 120Mbps and $400 for 1000Mbps. In Sweden its about half the price... In Sweden you can probably get 120-150Mbps for $60/month.You really think that their download speeds are going to be that slow?

That is not slow, those are real life estimates of the connection speed itself. Here use an internet speed calculator so you can see it for yourself:

Even on Steam or XBL that's exactly how much is gonna take you to download 50GB at your connection's maximum bandwidth.

Sadly in a lot of the U.S. 20Mbs connections, if they are even available (some rural places can still only get dial up) cost around $50 a month, and go up from there. It seems like most other countries have much better and cheaper internet than here in the states. I can only guess it is probably because our F.C.C. is like most of our government and corrupt. So they let telecommunications companies screw their customers, and create monopolies unchecked.
