Today, just five days from the Xbox: Game On briefing at E3, we are excited to announce that more than 45 new entertainment app experiences are coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 globally. Some of the most popular experiences such as an optimized-for-TV Twitter integration, Vine, HBO GO, ShowTime Anytime, Comedy Central, Major League Gaming (MLG), and more are scheduled to launch by the end of this holiday season. With these new additions, our catalog will increase by 25%, bringing it to more than 225 apps around the world.

From day one, a core pillar in our vision for Xbox One has been to offer gamers the ability to play blockbuster games and seamlessly switch to the TV shows, movies, and apps they love. With more than 180 apps and entertainment experiences available across Xbox One and Xbox 360 today, entertainment usage on Xbox Live has continually skyrocketed.

“Xbox fans are spending more time than ever on the console, spending more than five hours a day on Xbox One,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, Devices and Studios at Microsoft. “Today as we announce new commitments from dozens of our partners, including deep integration with experiences like Twitter and Vine, we hit an important milestone in our journey to deliver unique experiences on Xbox. We’re thrilled to break new ground in social TV experiences like we’re doing with Twitter on Xbox One.”

Love they are getting this info out before E3. Great new apps, and keeping E3 game-centric. Smart move, Phil. Smart move indeed!

More than likely....or you can just use someone's Direct TV or Comcast login like I do :)

Lol, yeah they are doing a good job. The One was designed for stuff like this, and even though the focus has shifted a bit, its great for those of us who invested early to see that the original vision isn't being ditched completely. I swear these apps have all but convinced me to ditch my cable box. That a big deal for me as it will save me money monthly.

#11 Posted by B4X (5660 posts) -

@lostrib: Always a hand reaching into your pocket restriction. It's the rules of the road.

Half of these will be utter garbage. Due to some BS restriction.

@musicalmac: Thx man. One of my favorite online games of all time. A true skill game. No perks here to hide your suck.

Rocket Arena MOD ftw.

OT: Could you pass along word to the GS staff about the button lag and time outs? This is amateurish?

Lol apps. My phone has apps. I want games.

Cool about the fix?

I could own ratbots in the Quake games. It's nice to be able to beat bots in a game. Your skill could be higher than a bot. No headshots or bullshit bullet sponge to save your ass.

A true SKILL game. I miss it!!!

Glorious gaming. Skill and map knowledge are the only things that worked!

Gaming today shields noobs from the truth. Sure better players will stand out today. Back then Bad players would be just that BAD Always, unless they improved their skill.

2-30 would be your world it you sucked in quake.

I know having Options suck right?

Only a Sony Damage controlling fanboy would even post this shit.

I love bare bones devices! Said no one ever.

Looking forward to maybe Crunchyroll, MLG, and a few other movie related ones. Great news!

Having each channel have a different app is annoying enough for me to not use them. Not to mention most of the same stuff is already VoD on cable.

Funny pic, lol. But yeah, bring on the apps. The more the better. The system was designed with them in mind, so I'm all for it :)

Fable Legends, Killer Instinct Season 2, Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Halo 5, Titanfall, all major 3rd party games, 90+ indie devs making games all say hello to you my friend:)

#29 Posted by Muffin2020 (534 posts) -

And yet still no i-Player in the UK which is odd as it launched on the PS3 6 years ago.

So it's safe to say the Xbox 720 is 6 years behind the PS3 in teams of UK apps.

Well, I'll be damned, I was wrong. Microsoft has a ton of games coming to the Xbox One. Sorry Lemmings.

#32 Posted by cainetao11 (18728 posts) -

@silversix_: You realize 45 exclusives over 9 years is 5 per year right? That isn't all that bad.

I doubt I'll download a single one of them.

Did I buy an over sized Ipad that hook up to my TV or did I buy a gaming console?

I mean seriously this is nice. But kinda silly, I didn't buy an over sized Iphone or Ipad. I bought a machine to play games,

Why do you guys classify me as a lem? X1 is a weak POS. Who the hell cares what Phil Spencer says. Not me.

I'm here for the games. Not to jump on the popularity band-wagon? You FUD spreading fanboys can circle jerk all you want. It's the cool thing to do!

I bash Sony and Microsoft. Yet I have to defend the complete BS you sheep spread. Both consoles are toasters compared to todays standards.

I just won't set in here and fucking Hyperbole, and try to discredit with blatant FUD, an advantage one platform has over the other.

Shocking isn't it?

Your insight is unmatched. My friend.

@AmazonTreeBoa: Yea but do you want to watch those shows on your phone? This is exactly what the Xbox One needed. I'm a cord cutter. My family strictly uses Netflix, Hulu Plus and others for our movie/TV show needs. Saves quite a bit of money.

Its a great gaming console, hence the list of games I posted in a earlier post. But it was designed with quick switching and apps in mind as well, and this reveal builds on that promise. I like the continued support of apps. Games are first to me, but no one ever said you only have to like one aspect of a console.

And only 3 of them will be available in Poland. Amazing ratio. Besides the very fact that Poland is the second country after the US which has gotten HBO GO makes it a total disgrace.
