So, the Nintendo 3DS finallygets messaging to people on your friends list this Thursday (welcome to the 21st century, Nintendo! Took you long enough). This week's eShop update, which also includes the cIassic GB Tetris that made the Gameboy such a rage, has the free app Swapnote (LetterBox in PAL regions) for download.
Swapnote is like the 3DS version of Pictochat, albeit much more evolved. It allows you to send messages to friends, doodles and scribbles, 2D and 3D art, videos, photos and sound effects. All transfers are either done over Wi-fi via SpotPass or locally via StreetPass instead.
So, everyone, remember: download SwapNote (LetterBox in PAL regions) as soon as it goes up this Thursday. This app is (as of now) the only way we will be able to send and receive messages on the 3DS, so it is important that you have it on your system!
To download it, check the eShop this Thursday. The eShop updates 12:00 PM PST for NA systems.
EDIT: The app also allows you to capture and send screenshots to friends!
