Funny how often I hear some of the more obnoxious types swear up and down that PC gaming to them is primarily about the games... Then endlessly epeen over their hardware, belittle those with different/lesser specs, Internet rage over "graphical downgrades" to games they already can't max out, ect.

TC, I saw you talking up Don't Starve, a legitimately great game that could be run on a toaster. That's a great way to share your love of PC gaming (though I think that particular title is on other platforms by now): talking about great games. Benchmark wars ends up with the opposite effect, and for no real benefit.

I haven't seen anyone belitting anyone else over hardware specs, but what I have seen is the expected chorus of angry consolites.

You apparently need to work on your reading comprehension regarding what was being said about Don't Starve; it was a reference to PSN's "free" games that were being discussed.

In other words, I'm well aware that it is now multi-plat. I'm also aware of the pathetic reception it met with the "gimme 'free' movie game," demographic who didn't deserve the title in the first place given some of their criticism.

It's also not intended to be "benchmark wars," but more of a "so you say you're a hermit," thread.

Again, the only ones being disrespectful ITT have been the bitter consolites incapable of containing their spite.

Should be upgrading soon, probably to a 980ti.

So are there any free benchmarks? Because I've hit a paywall for the 3DMark...

There's a free FFXIV Heavensward benchmark utility. :P

I found a way to manually enter specs. My PC isn't the greatest, but I built it on a budget and so far it works wonderfully. I'm not expecting to run new games on ULTRA settings, but it's definitely a giant upgrade from a dinky laptop that was about to fail.

You should be able to download the 3dmark demo through Steam for free.

There is a pay version that does some extra stuff, although I'm not sure what, but, if you want to, then you should at least be able to run all of the tests I linked in the original post for free.

Thanks! I just did the full test. It was what I was expecting. I built it on a budget, but it works for what I need and I don't plan on playing new games on ULTRA settings.

Very nice results. I'm still looking for someone to beat my scores that I did last week. My Geforce 560Ti Overclocked (running in single shot) score in the top 103%. Where do the extra percentages come from to push it over 100 you may ask? They actually have tests scores coming in from the Gama Quadrant by a unknown species.

Pretty sure i saw him mention his intentions to get 2x 980s or something to that effect. Btw, where's your benchmark results?.

Cheap, like $70 a month.

Freely admit that the current graphics card is just a temporary measure. This is my new DX-12 build. No liquid cooling or past the normal settings for overclocking the RAM currently. It's a quad-SLI/Crossfire board, though.

We appear to have been working with fairly similar setups.

I was also using a 2600k with a GTX 780 (non-titan version tho).

As others have said already, the 2600k is still a beast of a CPU and I want to keep mine in service.

I'm a longtime Corsair memory fan, but when they released the Obsidian 800D as their initial foray into cases, I decided that I wanted to give it, and one of their new enclosed water cooling loops, a try.

Unfortunately, I started to read disaster stories from those that had 100 series loops leak and destroy their components, so I settled on air, but still wound up with an enormous 800D case.

I loved the case's cable management/rubber grommeting/cpu backplate cutout features that seem to have become case standards since, but the case itself was still way too large to not be working with some sort of liquid cooling solution

This time around, I went with the newer Corsair Carbide 540:

While I'd prefer this case's form factor in Obsidian trim, I had so much fun building in it that I'm thinking that I want to get a second one to transfer my older PC into a more sanely sized case.

Unsurprisingly, I complete my 540 build and then catch word of this hot, brushed aluminum and tempered glass offering from Lian Li come this June:

There's a demo of 3DMark that contains the specific benchmark everyone has posted as has been said a few times in this thread already and more importantly, was said in the OP.

Yeah, I like the looks of it, but I would have liked to see a version with a brushed aluminum front and the glass on just the side. Unfortunately, given that it's Lian Li, it probably costs a ridiculous amount.
