I was doing some calculating today. and I hear lots of arguments about how the 360 cost more in the long run because of the $50.00 a year live membership, but people are also forgetting another expense that is equal to xbox live.. BATTERIES.. Yes batteries, now before you think im crazy, hear me out. I play my 360 on avg about 4 hours a day maybe sometimes less. I have to buy a pack of batteries for the controller atleast once a month. a pack of good batteries are about $5.00 with tax. So if i spend $5.00 a month on batteries PLUS $5.00 a month on xbox live thats $10.00 a month im paying for the 360 in order to enjoy it fully!! The average console life span lasts 5-6 years, so after 5 years the total cost of the 360 is.. $1000.00!!  lol! I know this may seem like irrational fanboyism but come on!! ITS TRUE!! DO THE MATH!! $10.00 a month for batteries and xbox live is $120 a year!! If this console lasts 5 years thats $600.00 you have spent just on a live membership and batteries alone!! NOW throw in the $400.00 price tag and that comes to $1000.00!!!Â
With the PS3 you pay a one time price of $600.00 and thats it!! No worries of buying batteries for the controller and no live membership. Grant it yes xbox live might be better but hey, With PS3 you can play online, chat with friends and browse the web and its all good PLUS by the time "Home" is released, the PSN will own the 360 in live service and IT WILL BE FREE!!! Sure the retail price for the PS3 might be $200.00 more but come on, after 5 years you will be paying the same amount for a PS3 as you would just on batteries and the live membership alone!!
