For me, the most annoying was confusion. There are times that my battle strategy has gone haywire thanks to some bosses that inflicts this kind of abnormal status.
I'd have to say confusion. As a poster above said, it can absolutely throw your strategy out of the window, and it's always a pain. On numerous occassions as a confused Auron absolutely blitzed Yuna in FFX, or Steiner wounding Vivi in FFIX. Though it's my least favorite, a Malboro's (sorry to all the name fanatics, can't remember if you spell it with or without an "r") Bad Breath can make any ailment the worse due to it's combination with other ailments.
Paralyse... that one ticks me off. Once I had my entire party turned to stone and automatically lost when the monster only had about 100hp left. Was so annoying and I hadn't saved the game in a while, it was in X in the Omega Ruins. I had no way of saving it.
Death was paticularly annoying especially from some of the harder bosses in the series who would just eliminate you after using that spell at the beginning of a fight.
Curse is the worst for me, bad memories, lol. So many times I'm about to rape a boss with an Aeon's overdrive in FFX or bludgeon someone to a pile of goo with Squall's final limit break, "Lion Heart," then I have curse cast on me and my limit break/overdrive is blocked! Especially annoying during the Dahaka battles in FFX!
I would say a tie between Confusion and Petrify...man I despise both of these. Aside from Death, these two status ailments screwed me up so many times, I couldn't keep count.
Blind for me........ESPECIALLY in FF6.......I never had the eye drops to cure it so I had to make a run for the closest town to buy some and having to avoid as many battales as I could.........soooo annoying
