"James told FOX Sports Florida that, while he has thought seriously several times about entering the dunk contest during All-Star Weekend in his nine previous seasons, it never will occur.

"No," said James, who turns 28 on Dec. 30. "It's over with. I'm getting too old for that. ... There were times when I wanted to do it. But I came into All-Star Weekend a few times banged up and I didn't want to risk further injury."

He is a great in game dunker... I don't think his dunking translates well in a Slam Dunk Contest. He can clearly jump over a person.... or a car...

Hope others follow suit, the contest has been circling the drain for years. I haven't been that excited for it sincetumblr_m9oro2dioG1qbuacjo5_r1_400.gif, tumblr_m9oro2dioG1qbuacjo1_400.gif, tumblr_m9oro2dioG1qbuacjo2_400.gif, tumblr_ly1zi9UW2t1qe0s2eo1_400.gif.

No (leads NBA in All-Star votes), and even if he was, the people who still hate him votes would be split between 3 different people while his fans would all vote for him.

We all know that the best players in the NBA are the most artisitc with their dunks. Lebron is obviously a terrible player.

I can't believe people actually criticize him for not entering one. Who cares? The dunk contest is lame anyway.

No. That belongs to Dwight "trade me, don't trade me, trade me, don't trade me, trade me" Howard. Also, Carmelo is more of a villain than Lebron for holding the Nuggets hostage. Lebron left in free agency. Can't believe people forget that.

I don't think Howard or Melo receive as much ridicule as LeBron despite them messing around demanding specialized trades. LeBron is just a much more nationally recognized player so the hate he receives kind of has a snow ball effect in which people dislike him because it's the popular notion.

However, I think that him winning a ring dissipated most of the antipathy that surrounded him. That is...outside of Cleveland at least.

It's not a huge deal, but I wish he would have gotten in at least 1 dunk contest. I do think fear of losing had soemthing to do with it early on.

I honestly think he got most of the hate because of the decision. People in Cleveland would be butthurt regardless of how he left, but that decision stuff pissed a lot of people off.

I don't see why a regular NBA fan would be distraught over "The Decision." The media, or ESPN more specifically, was infutuated with where LeBron would end up, so he used the situation to raise money for a charity and announce his decision (A decision all NBA fans were curious to hear). All the people that hated LeBron over it were most likely guilty of tuning in.

I'm agreeing with you. I thought the decision was misguided but I wasn't going to get all rectum wrecked like a lot of fans did that year. I understand why Cavs fans were mad. They lost a once in a lifetime player. Everyone else was going a bit too far with the hate.

If some people can't what was wrong with the "The Decision" then I can't help you. And pleeeeeeze with the "charity" crap excuse, LeBron could had just donated the money from his own pocket and saved the city of Cleveland the embarrassment.

The Decision was immature on LBJ's part, and I can't believe his idiot agent let him do it knowing that Lebron was going to dip town. That's a PR disaster. Either way I think Lebron has matured a lot since then, particularly since he was humbled by the Mavericks.

It's not an "excuse" in the slightest. I definitely agree that it could of been handled differently, better in fact. But this is ESPN we're talking about, along with one of the biggest names in sports.

I don't think we'll ever really know whether LeBron was intentionally trying to embarrass Cleveland and Dan Gilbert, either way I looked at it as a situation where sports had left the realm of entertainment, and became something ugly and a bit too serious.

Fvck ohio. We were talking about the decision and I drew a comparison to Peyton Manning playing in Denver. The Heat are cool in my book, stop being so defensive heat fans.
