@insanegame377: Yes but I don't think Atletico will be challenging at the top of La Liga for too much longer anyway, so they might as well cash in on their top players (Diego Costa, Koke) whilst they are peaking in value. They were in a similar position last season but fell away towards the end and finished third, they did win the Spanish cup though. Everyone wants the Barca/Atletico game on the final day of the season to be a title decider but its just wishful thinking in my opinion!

As for Man Utd I think their title hopes are hanging by a thread, and if they lose the Chelsea game then that's them almost certainly out of the race! Moyes may have money to spend but they may have already dropped too many points.

This time last season Atletico were already 8-10 points behind Barca, so your statement there is wrong. I do agree they wont stick around till the final games though, caught the second half of the 0-0 between the two sides at the weekend and Atletico were perfectly happy to play for the draw despite being at home, which suggested to me that they don't feel they are serious challengers themselves.

Also a good win for Arsenal last night, though I wont be convinced they can win the league until they can win most of the really big games. Chelsea/Man Utd this weekend is crucial, and I'd personally make the winner of that game favourites to win the league, even though United are pretty far behind as it stands.

This is a great signing for united. Mata's flare could make united a lot more dangerous upfront.

Mourinho is stupid though for letting him go,he was a huge asset.I know he didn't fit with his system well, but he should give him more time to adapt to it.

He probably knows better than me though.

I heard that salah will replace him at chelsea.Good player in my opinion, but not for that level.

I like Mata but he hasn't done much this year. I lost a little respect for him for leaving in a time of adversity and giving up too easily. You have to earn your spot in a Mourinho squad and it isn't like the Spanish national team that picks solely on names. Mou has tried plenty of times to get some good production out of him but it just hasn't happened. Like the match against Southampton, when Mata was replaced by Oscar Oscar was a big part of all 3 goals that we scored.

In terms of Salah, I think it's hilarious we picked him up right under Liverpool's noses lol. I wish I were present for the meeting between Salah and Roman because of how anti-zionist Salah is.

Hopefully this spells the end for Valencia and Young and the predictable 'pass to the wings and fire in (unsuccessful) crosses ad nauseam ' shit-on-a-stick football United have been playing recently. The way this season is going though, he's probably been bought as backup to Tony V, as we seem to have built our entire system around him and his inability to beat a man.

It's between him, Suarez and Aguero. I still think technically van Persie is up there with them, but unfortunately he plays in a team with anachronistic tactics. Even Messi wouldn't get a sniff in this United team.

I'm rather jealous of Hazard. fuckin' Bayern.

'The FA Cup is big and beautiful,' stressed Mourinho. 'It's beautiful for everybody. The draw helped make it even more beautiful because it opens a big space for the teams that don't normally win trophies.'

Talking about Wenger
'He is a specialist in failure. I'm not. If supposedly he is right and I'm afraid of failure it's because I don't fail many times. Maybe he's right.
'The reality is that he's a specialist because eight years without a piece of silverware is failure. If I do that at Chelsea, eight years, I leave London and I don't come back.'

muahahahahahaha

Only really interested in the ties that feature the English teams. Think City will cause an upset, Arsenal will lose over 2 legs against Bayern and Chelsea/Man Utd will both have comfortable victories. I actually fancy Man Utd to spring a surprise and win the whole competition if they avoid Bayern until the final, similar to the way Chelsea won it a couple of years back.

We can't even beat Stoke, we'd get absolutely mullered by anyone in the next round. I wouldn't even bet on United getting past Olympiakos. The only glimmer of hope is that Moyes has looked more assured in Europe. Maybe it will be like that Mark Twain swordsman quote and our shit tactics will throw Bayern, Barca et al off their game, as they won't expect 500 mishit crosses to rain down on their 18-yard box (35-yard area if Valencia plays).

I see where your coming from but remember its not always the best team in the competition that wins it. Inter and Chelsea have shown that in recent years. Playing Olympiakos basically gives them a free ticket to the next round too. If United are to come up against a better team I'd imagine they'd employ Chelsea's defensive tactics of a couple of years ago, and it could end up working for them. Also their best chance of qualifying for the CL next season will be to win it this season, so they'll hardly go out with a whimper regardless of who the manager is.

Have you seen how we're playing recently? Olympiakos is anything but a given.

That Chelsea team, although they had problems themselves, were better equipped to play that kind of football. Even then they needed a bit of luck; if Messi or Robben convert their penalties they probably lose. I'm not saying it's impossible for United to win - we managed to nearly knock out Madrid last year with the same team, and we've added a world class player to that team - but it's a pretty difficult task with the quality of opposition that will be in the next round and the level of football we are currently playing. Teams like Stoke waltz through our midfield like Moses parting the Red Sea, I shudder to think what Bayern would do to us. Heck, both Bayern and Barca routinely dispatched two of England's current best teams, and both Arsenal and City are much better than us. I had confidence in 2009 when we played arguably the best club team in history, and when we had the second best player in the world and one of the best managers ever. We lost comfortably. I had confidence in 2011 that we'd adapt our style of play and not get beaten so comprehensively like last time. We didn't and we lost comfortably. This Bayern team are not that far away from that Barca team, and we have a worse team and manager now than we did back then. If we were to meet in the final I can only see one outcome. If Moyes wins the CL I will furiously wank to his picture for a month, I just can't ever see that happening.

@Brutal_Elitegs: Cleverley, Smalling (he was EXTRA shit today), Valencia, AND Young all started. I do not understand how these 4 are on the team let alone starting. If Buttner started they would be even worse because holy shit is he bad.

@Aljosa23: Cleverley is actually useless. He offers nothing in attack, nothing in defense, cowers away from play, and when he does offer himself for the ball he's allergic to it and immediately passes it back to where it came from. This is what Cleverley offers, and for comparison. It beggars belief. Smalling is a decent CB but looks out of his depth at RB, and the less said about Valencia and Young... Kagawa showed more in ten minutes than either of them did for the entire match and was instrumental in two of our best attacking plays, and yet he will almost certainly be dropped for the next match. Valencia has been shit since 2011 yet he's one of the first names on the team sheet. I'm starting to think our progressive play (relatively speaking) against Palace at the weekend was a fluke, and it was only because Moyes was resting Valencia and Young that we didn't play an archaic flat 4-4-2 like today. That sounds about right, Moyes was resting the mighty duo of Valencia and Young for our biggest game of the season. Kill me now.

I figured this wouldn't be easy, but I thought the occasion of a CL knockout round would be enough for the players to at least try, inept management aside. Nope. There was absolutely no urgency in our play before or after either time they scored, and we couldn't muster up a single chance for 80 odd minutes against the w̶o̶r̶s̶t̶ second worst team left in the competition. Olympiakos were no great shakes, but you only have to be competent to beat us.

Carrick probably contemplates suicide every time he looks over and sees Cleverley beside him. Going from Scholes to Tom Cleverley...lol. Smalling is such an embarrassment at RB, man. The guy was slipping and sliding all over the place and gave it up plenty of times. He's still not as bad as Buttner lol you guys REALLY need Rafa back. Yeah, Kagawa is a boss... it's unfortunate Moyes will NEVER play him in his preferred position with Rooney and Mata there and Januzaj maturing into a talented player. He will likely go back to BVB in the Summer anyway. I like Fellaini and really hope he ends up paying off for United. Poor, poor united. :(

Look on the bright side at least you have strikers. Mou was caught talking shit about ours and specifically making fun of Eto'o lol. #CavaniComeToLondon

It could have been going from Scholes to Pogba, but we'd rather bring Scholes out of retirement than play one of Europe's most promising young midfielders.

Was Mourinho talking about age falsification or that he plays like a 35 year old? Either way it was pretty funny. Hopefully Drogba will compound your striker issue tomorrow ;-). And yeah, we do have strikers, one is moaning to Dutch television and the other one - the one we are paying as much as some of the best players in the world but doesn't play like one of the best players in the world - played in midfield today when we had a perfectly able midfielder on the bench. To be fair, it is one of the best strike partnerships in Europe, just look at this homogeneous almost telepathic understanding they have.

I cant believe how bad Man Utd were last night! A team who sold their best player to Fulham outplaying them would have been unheard of under Sir Alex. I do believe however that Olympiakos will regret not taking further advantage of Man Utd's incompetency last night, as their record in England is absolutely abysmal. It would probably do United some good just to get knocked out early however and avoid a potential drubbing from Real Madrid or Bayern!

Yeah that was one of Fergie's dumb moves right before retirement (other one was Buttner... hate him so much), letting Pogba go. After Hazard and James Rodriguez Pogba is the third best midfielder in the world right now.

I think he was talking about his age but it can go both ways lol. Doesn't matter because we will be getting Cavani in the Summer...I wish. :( Why doesn't Moyes try a 4-2-2-2 or a 4-3-1-2?

Because he's a dinosaur. When the man thinks that "getting to the byline" is a sign of good play then you know you're up shit creek. He has said that he's reluctant to change what effectively won us the title last year, which is fair enough, since you don't want to rock the boat too much in your first season in charge (getting rid of the entire coaching staff was a good idea then), but it's clear to everyone that shit isn't working but he continues to persevere with it anyway. I think the problem is deeper than a simple formation change anyway, although it would certainly help. Ferguson was never a tactical technician like Mourinho, but what he was excellent at was being a great motivational leader. When a young player walked into that dressing room they see a man who was winning trophies when they were in shitty diapers, now all they see is a gormless looking face who has never won anything on borrowed time. I feel for Moyes, and it's not like he's a bad manager, but my God is he out of his depth. There's a manger out there that can get RVP, Rooney, Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj and Nani playing fluid attacking football. I've seen enough of David Moyes and his football to know he's NOT that man.

We haven't been playing particularly great football for a few years now, and our problems were there last year but were masked by RVP and Carrick having one of his best seasons. What we did have though was a desire to win, and we came back from a goal deficit numerous times. We've conceded twice as many goals as we have scored (3-6) in the last 10 minutes of games in the league this season - compare that to the cumulative goals scored/conceded in the last 10 minutes of games in the league in the last five seasons and it reads 75-27. Chelsea this season have scored three times as many as they have conceded in the last 10 minutes; in fact we are the only team in the top half save for fucking West Ham (who have still scored MORE goals in the last 10 minutes than we have) who have a negative value. When we conceded yesterday, bookies had us at 8-1 at half-time to come back and win. If any of the other "big" teams conceded first to Olympiakos they'd be at the very least evens to win. If people think we're going to turn up at OT and blitz Olympiakos then they just haven't been watching us play this season.

You can have Hernandez if you give us Hazard and Oscar.

Fergie was a very intimidating guy and won titles with lesser teams because he knows the skills of his players and used them to the best of their ability. It's so sad that Moyes lacks that. Playing Mata on the wing is so stupid when you consider he plays best in the middle and Mata is too slow to be the prototypical winger. I still think he needs a bit more time to prove himself since he was signed to a 6 year deal. He might turn it around next year but it's hard to say. A year without playing in Europe might do United some good so who knows.

You can at least take solace in the fact that United does not really have much wrong with them in terms of players. When they are all healthy and in a good formation you will succeed again. All that's missing is a play making midfielder alongside Carrick; someone like Gundogan, Verratti, or Pogba. And United is not a team that splashes the cash (before this season, I guess) so Moyes (or whoever is the next manager) should be able to get loads of funds to buy players. You're not as fucked as Liverpool was when they imploded.

I'll give you Oscar for 55m, Hazard for 120m.

Playing Mata where he does is criminal, but I also think that part of the problem is Rooney and trying to accomodate him in the team. Truth is, as good a player as Rooney is, he's not nearly as effective a number 10 as either Mata or Kagawa, and no matter how many times Moyes tries it Rooney does not have the skill set to play in midfield. He won't drop Rooney, so either our best player has to be dropped, or he will persist with two up front and build the system around that, which means almost certainly Kagawa will be the one who suffers - y'know Kagawa, one of the players we should be looking at to improve our style of football. This video is just depressing; the amount of times Kagawa gets into great positions only for our players to just outright ignore him is just sad. We are statistically the WORST team in the league playing the ball through the middle, and this has to be the manager's stamp and the way he drills the team. Just look at Young in that video (something Valencia and Evra have been guilty of all season), he just gets to the byline and plays a hopeful percentage cross - something we have been doing all season that culminated in a horrific denouement that was the Fulham game. We either take the complete safe option or hoof it up field, we have absolutely no confidence in our ability on the ball. Those spaces Kagawa takes up in that video are the passes that Bayern Munich and Barca make because they trust in their ability on the ball. Trust in his goddamn ability to control a football. There's absolutely no guile or subtlety about our play. Kagawa brings that, but unfortunately the only other player in our team on the same wavelength as him is Mata, and you just know it's either-or with Moyes.

I don't know man, this smells of Hodgson at Liverpool and the longer Moyes stays the more damaging it is going to become.

It all goes back to Moyes having no backbone. He won't drop Rooney from playing the 10 because he is a spineless coward. And yeah, you're absolutely right with Kagawa. It's a shame because I really like him but it looks like his time at United mirrors Sahin when he was at Madrid; good player that ultimately gets wasted because of the manager's incompetence. Did you see that evil Kagawa twitter account? Pure comedy.

In terms of passing in the middle, your link-up is so shit lol. Fucking Cleverley is so god damn shit it boggles my mind and Carrick looks like he does not give a **** anymore. I feel for Moyes somewhat because damn, I'm beginning to think the players' lethargic play is the other half of the reason United is playing anemic football. I'm actually stunned Evra still plays. He's as useless as Smalling when it comes to defending. Just put that dude as a winger instead of Valencia or Young and call it a day lol.

Man, it would be so fucked if they do. I saw that they are the favourites on a few betting sites.. What is the total cost of their team anyway? Can't be more than 100mil that's for sure.
