Perhaps, it has more cartoony look and the graphics were brighter that made the world of Mobius beautiful. The scenery also had that cartoony. That may be the case.
its a matter of opinion. sonic 2 in my opinion is the best. i think its becuasse it opened so many doors for sonic. it introduced super sonic and tails.
1. first appearance of spin dash 2. longest single sonic game of the original genesis ones 3. first appearance of super sonic 4. first appearance of tails 5. specials stages were amazing for the time
It's one of my favorites because thats the first game I remeber playing with my older brother and to this day video games are the one thing we have in common besides our great taste in movies. :D

I've always prefered Sonic 3. Sonic 2 is popular because of nostalgia. It was bundled with the genesis for a long time, so it's the first game played a large percentage of people. Also, it introduced the much needed spin dash.
