To get NiGHTS, Ulala, and AiAi you need to beat both of the Grand Prix with gold to unlock SEGA Carnival and SEGA Illusion. After that, go through all of Storm's and Wave's missions. This will unlock Jet's missions. Beat all of Jet's missions to get Ulala, AiAi, and Nights. NiGHTS owns by the way.
In order to get Super Sonic you do have to get all the gold medals in mission mode. It's been on GameFAQs and other places for about a day now, but I've done it to be sure.

For the Green Robo, yes, but for the Red Robo, you must play a total of 50 whopping hours! I'm only 35 hours done or so so it looks like it'll take me (and a whole lot of other people) quite a while.
i beat all of the missions for wave and storm but didnt get jets?! WTF? do i have to get gold in all of waves and storms missions? and i alos got bronze only in grand prix so is that efecting me of getting jets missions? plz help!
Yeah, but that's only for the SEGA Carnival and Illusion pages. The remaining pages for Wave come from Babylon Story Mode. So, I guess what he's saying is right but just a side note.
