Sonic sez...

I thought I'd share these with you guys because they are rather funny. If you weren't around during the height of Sonic's populairity during the early 90s, you probably didn't see the two cartoon shows based on his exploits. On ABC on Saturday mornings was "Sonic the Hedgehog" or SatAM which for a kids's cartoon had good story writing and was darker and more serious however barely had anything to do with the game and Tails's fans will be upset that in that series, Tails is barely in it. Tails was usually stuck at home because he was "too little" while Sonic and a bunch of characters who never existed in the games go off and fight Dr. Robotnick, which was Eggman's name originally. Why they changed it, I'll never know.

But on Fox on weekday afternoons (ironcially after Mario's cartoon) was "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" which was truer to the game, gave Tails a better part and was more lighthearted however it was drawn horribly as you'll see.

At the end of each Adventures episode they would do a bit called "Sonic Sez" where Sonic would be all moralistic and tell kids to eat healthy, stay in school, brush their teeth, etc. Both of Sonic's old series are available on DVD now. These clips found their way to youtube and many became youtube poops because they're so cheezy.

Also if you thought Jason Griffth was bad, Sonic used to be voiced by Jaheel White who you probably know as the nerdy Steve Urkel from the sitcom, Family Matters. Here, now is Sonic teaching us life lessons:

Well at least Jaheel White could emote a little bit, still it's hard to take someone as cool as Sonic seriously when he opens his mouth and sounds like a well known nerd. I agree that Ryan Drummond did do the best job.

I liked watching that show on Saturday mornings, and I think Sonic's voice fits him well. I just couldn't imagine that show with Jason Griffith or even Ryan Drummond voicing Sonic. SonicBoom344
