This is the thread that defies itself, because if it stands out as least memorable, you probably remember it more than other levels. So reach back into the back corner of your mind and try and find that one level you'll probably never care about. Everytime you get to it, you are surprised to find its there. Everytime you finish it, your reaction shakes the heavens with a resounding "meh." For me, it's definitely Star Light Zone from Sonic 1. Kinda dull, olive green graphics. Nothing is particulalry challenging anywhere in it. The music puts you to sleep, sounding more like something that belongs in a menu than a level. Launch Base from Sonic 3 is up there, too, due to similar musical crimes and the fact that it's not _really_ the last level. Oh, wow, and now that I think about it, I barely reacll Eggman having two levels aborad the Ark in SA2 instead of 1... All of his levels kind of blend together for me, though.

The problem with least memorable Sonic levels is that you can't remember them.

As somone who played nearly every Game Gear Sonic game, may of those 8 bit Sonic games have pretty bland levels. Sonic Chaos in particular was so bland I hardly remember any of its stages until I looked them up on youtube.

Also Black Night had pretty "meh" levels IMO never mind the volcanic lava in England. Some fields, some forests, caves and basically a nicer looking version of Kingdom Valley.

Also am I the only one who only remembers Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes? The rest of the levels seemed rather forgettable as well. I think there was a city, a casino, a canyon, a jungle and Eggman's base. Seaside Hill we only remember mainly because the motif kept getting used in other games.

I don't recall the names of Black Knight's worlds, just the lovely scenery. Heroes, on the other hand, I can name 12/14 of its levels offhand, and the last few only are hard because it's a list over ten items, which always takes me a bit to recall.

There's a fair number of zones I can never remember from the Game Gear titles and the Advance series, honestly... Especially the original Rush... :|

Advance series is easy, I can name all six zones at any time. There's Angel Island, and that rocket ship level, and that beach level, and the snow/underwater level, and... Yeah, okay, I guess. :P

kbaily

Sonic Chaos-I remember some of the levels but not all of them.

  • Gigapolis Zone
  • Sleeping Egg Zone
  • Mecha Green Hill Zone
  • Aqua Planet Zone (I think)

Sonic and the Black Knight- I remember some of them, although the themes for some of the levels are similar.
  • Great Megalith
  • Castle Camerlot
  • Lost Woods
  • Crystal Caves
  • Molten Mine
  • Knight's Passage
  • Faraway Avalon
  • The Cauldron (I think)

Sonic Heroes
  1. Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace
  2. Great Metropolis/Power Plant
  3. Casino Park/BINGO Highway
  4. Rail Canyon/Bullet Station
  5. Frog Forest/Lost Jungle
  6. Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion
  7. Egg Fleet/Final Fortress
Heroes levels are easier to remember because each area was broken into 2 Acts and a Boss. You started out at the beach, then a city, then a casino, then a canyon, then a forest, then a haunted castle, and then finally the Egg Fleet.

Did Sonic 4 have any levels at all...? :P /facetious When looking through the list of Rush levels, I realised that Mirage Road doesn't come to mind very easily (I meant he level itself, not the gameplay). Night Carnival might not be memorable either, but I think I find it more memorable because I thought a certain song would fit with it sometime ago. blah Maybe Amy's levels in Adventure, maybe Gamma's as well.

Pretty much any level from Black Knight and the Game Gear games, and some of the levels from Shadow the Hedgehog.

As far as the Game Gear titles go, I can remember the levels from Sonic 1, Sonic 2 (well, some), and Sonic Triple Trouble. Not really any from the other games.

3D Blast was pretty forgettable as well though I did play the Genesis version with the less stellar music. I remember the "required by law" Green Hill esque level, a level with ruins, ice fire and the crappy super easy special stage.

You what's really sad is that I do remember all the levels of Sonic 06 if only because they were so awful and each had something awful about them that won't go away.

Wave Ocean: Bad high speed section with unfair death if you didn't hit the giant loop right at the end.

Dusty Desert: SILVER'S BALL PUZZLE FROM HELL!!

White Acropolis: Horrrible snowboarding

Crisis City: It showed up in Generations

Flame Core: lighting issues

Radical Train: Stupid racing to keep train from exploding

Jungle: terrible slowdown

Kingdom Valley: Too much fear of falling down bottomless pit because of bad controls in the air

Eggman's base: GIANT BALLS!!

I don't know what's worse having an unmemorable level or one that so bad it wont' leave your thoughts.

As for Shadow's game aside from Westopolis which you play several times over and over again if you're going for 100% completion the only others I remember were one with Espio inside a giant computer mainframe and the temple one with Knuckles and "FIND THE COMPUTER ROOM!!"

3-D Blast had Panic Puppet. I don't remember the others, but Panic Puppet was definitely worth remembering.

If only because the entrance to the boss is through Robotnik's giant, mechanical nostril.

The music, the name, and a good deal of the platforming also appealed to me. The nostril part was comical though.
